WD 3TB My Cloud Personal Network Attached Storage - NAS - WDBCTL0030HWT-NESN

    • The bottom line is, for this Mac user, the WD MyCloud is a high-maintenance, unreliable, frustrating device
    • It is a good device, but they should really improve their android app
    • The device was easy to unbox and setup, though I am a pretty advanced user
    • It's great device and help me a lot, little hard to install at the start but after its easy to use.
    • Store a ton on it, used it as our back up for everything and cleared off old devices
    • As a pure backup device, this is not the best choice.
    • Wonderful investment, especially when paired with PS4 and other stream-capable network devices.
    • the cloud”, however, then the device is suboptimal, to say the least.
    • This device seemed intriguing because it pledged to be so much more than that.
    • I like the concept, but the device has too many issues that are not easy to work through
    • In fact, I find the device is nearly worthless
    • While easy to configure and setup, the device frequently fails
    • I don't recommend this device if you use Mac OS
    • Great cloud device, easy to use and intuitive
    • Stand - alone, the device is wonderful
    • The worst possible device you can buy....that's all to say
    • If the device keeps working the way I
    • After their support team suggested a RESET for the 4th time, I have decided this device is not ready to be used.
    • Although, owning a NAS is a good storage device, there are limits as to what this particular NAS can do
    • and I really like the device
    • Fast device and responsive
    • I no longer trust this device w/ my data.
    • That being said, this is a good device, I would highly recommend.
    • It is also a convenient and strong way of having your devices from your tablets and Smart TV's share your media into one small convenient device
    • Overall the device promises a
    • Even thought the device is extremely cheap, I returned as I
    • I have drives I bought ages ago that didn't fail as quickly as this device
    • you're such a pessimist.6/12/17 Update: this device is SLOW as hell as well.
    • Determined the device was defective and authorized a return.
    • and I believe it will make a great personal cloud device for myself
    • I love the device, i have it for over a 1 year.
    • Save your money and purchase a more reliable NAS device, I wish I had.
    • It is fine as a backup device.
    • I am HATING this device right now.
    • Minus one star for delaying me in solving my angelic housing crisis, but four stars granted for what ultimately proved to be a quite useful device
    • This device was advertised as "backup" solution however after trying, and failing, 4 backups with 2 different devices I decided to return this device.
    • This is an awesome storage device and it's beyond my expectations
    • Sync all your devices to this and not worry about ur phone not having enough storage;)
    • The device was un-responsive
    • I'm sending it back and looking for a more reliable NAS device.
    • I initially thought the device might be defective, because I have another device connected to the same router via ethernet that works fine, and I even tried the same port.
    • Data loads much faster from carbonite than your own personal "cloud" plus carbonite is likely more secure (RAID).It's a good device but consider your options.
    • Overall this is a frustrating device which I'll likely replace with a much better one at some point.
    • Never trust a single device to store your world in
    • Additionally, the device is extremely quiet (practically noiseless)
    • If it is truly and issue with Time Machine, then this device should not be advertised as compatible with Time Machine.
    • Save your money and buy a more reliable device that does not take so much troubleshooting to get it to function properly on your network.
    • I would not recommend this device at all.1
    • The device is on and LED is solid blue.
    • Basically, it's a great device as long as things goes well
    • It may have happened in the past and so I tried rebooting the device, still no luck
    • The device was incredibly easy to configure, had a sleek look, and both random and sequential IO performance tests were more than acceptable for a pair of low performance SATA spindles with a single Gigabit Ethernet connection.
    • It could just be that the device doesn't work well with Windows.
    • The device works pretty well as a dropbox replacement
    • Anyway, great device
    • This device was very hard to set up because WD's downloaded setup software didn't work in the usual plug and play fashion.
    • All in all, it is a pretty solid little device, but the network performance is lackluster despite some custom network tweaks
    • I could not believe how fundamentally broken the device was
    • I'm sure other modern devices work much better
    • This NAS seems to be a good device for home networks with plenty of storage at a reasonable price.
    • The drive keeps getting disconnected .This device is not worth the hassle for Apple users
    • However, as a system admin background, I am used to having more control options, on both the sever (NAS device itself) and the app that access it.
    • you're such a pessimist.6/12/17 Update: this device is SLOW as hell as well.
    • The NAS device is not accessible thru the app
    • It goes to sleep and uses low power, but is a great storage device to dump a network's worth of data on to
    • I love my WD cloud device
    • It work greats as a streaming, home sharing and storage device but it fails miserably when it comes to being a cloud device
    • I was able to get the desktop app down due to my experience with issues like these, but to anyone who has a hard time with computers for basic use, this is perhaps not the best device to own
    • Not the easiest device to set up and get running properly
    • Great NAS device
    • I can't access files remotely when I need them, ugh this device is really a complete waste of money and my valuable time
    • Great device!
    • Eventually the device failed
    • Interestingly, the device didn't have any objections to that
    • This device is terrible to use as a backup
    • In summary: This device is extremely buggy, difficult to use, and very slow.
    • However, WD has a lot more work to do to make this a user friendly device for the majority of computer users and for the buggy Cloud apps
    • I think this device is worthless
    • While easy to configure and setup, the device frequently fails
    • I'm sure the device itself is fine, but you need a lot of training to use it
    • This device set up quickly and works great.
    • the device itself is beautiful, quiet
    • I love the devices
    • Sadly just simple network file file copy would hang, then give an explorer error, then the device would be unreachable
    • This is one of the worst electronic devices I have ever purchased.
    • The cloud feature sounds neat, but only if I have complete control over and trust the device
    • It is a well made storage device but its software is terrible
    • A red light came on and the device stopped working all together
    • I plan on removing the drive and installing it in a hopefully higher quality and more reliable NAS device
    • I do not recommend this device if you want reliable access from outside the house or if you are interested in any kind of speed.
    • According to the sales literature, this device works with a Time Machine and is discoverable on the network for app access for the mobile devices.
    • Also, and maybe more frustrating, the device (which was new and re-opened!) did not come with the quick setup guide (that is supposed to have a 9 digit code) or the sticker on the back/bottom of the device (which is supposed to have a 9 digit code)
    • But the device is weak
    • The device is easy to setup and run
    • I can't even watch a movie through my TV on my LAN because the drive vanishes and can't be found by any streaming capable device until I power it off then on again
    • My institution unfortunately suffers from considerable storage difficulties (a bit of an inevitability after 4.5 billion years, I suppose), and while this device has not proven helpful for the organization and safekeeping of blessed souls, it DOES finally give me a single, safe place to keep my documents, photos, music, and home videos that does not rely on a server farm maintained by mortals (they MUST know by now how vulnerable they are to natural disasters)
    • Many people are wondering why their device is so slow
    • I support our NAS/SAN devices and the software applications that we carry.
    • quality of the product is great if you are just using it for personal use, but note to IT professionals: THIS DEVICE WILL NOT SUPPORT CONNECTING TO DOMAIN
    • The physical device itself is annoying.
    • Planning to migrate to replication device available in same stack to avoid loosing valuable data because of any crash.
    • This may be the most frustrating device I have ever purchased for a computer.
    • My device is working perfectly fine with Windows, Android, iOS and even Ubuntu
    • 3) go to mycloud.com/setup.It quickly saw the device and led me through some
    • Very impractical device
    • Reviewers have complained about the device mysteriously going off line, losing its IP address, whatever
    • I may use it to share media files in the future with smart entertainment devices, but for now I don't have a need
    • The lower the price the smaller the number of options and the more control the device tends to have on you
    • So far this device is amazing!
    • Now, about 4 months after purchase, the device mine as well be a paper weight or doorstop
    • I've spent way too much time trying to get this device to work
    • I would give it 5 stars because it is a really nice device and because the support is outstanding, but the thing DID fail, gave me some headaches and a couple weeks of hassle
    • I love having this device, but I'm planning to upgrade to a Qnap
    • So the bottom line is when dealing with large set of file either copying or browsing from a mobile app could hang this device
    • The main reason I bought this drive was to back up my existing MyCloud (Gen1) drive, which I like very much as a cloud device
    • This device installs very easily and works great.
    • A great little home cloud/storage device, and with Cat6 wiring, there should be no issues streaming and accessing
    • The device is cumbersome to switch between multiple static IP addresses
    • It work greats as a streaming, home sharing and storage device but it fails miserably when it comes to being a cloud device
    • I just went into my router and saw it was an inactive device and added the IP address and clicked activate and then rebooted the router and now everything works fine,, Transferring all the pictures to it is a breeze
    • This is a good Cloud device compared to the price but with a very very very limited functionality
    • It is the most unreliable device i have ever connected to my computer, one minute it works the next it says you can't log in, even sitting in the same room on the same server its a hit and miss affair
    • devices work well.
    • This device is of poor quality and consistently loses connected to gain remote access
    • I repeatedly entered that device registration code and repeatedly the device rejected it
    • Unfortunately your not allowed to post links with supporting information but after completing my research I felt confident that I could get this device to work as planned
    • Wonderful cloud device
    • Sadly just simple network file file copy would hang, then give an explorer error, then the device would be unreachable
    • Overall, I like the device a lot
    • makes any high volume activity slow and it makes for a very poor media device
    • I enthusiastically recommend this device.
    • This device has glowing reviews but when you receive it you will find that it's fraught with problem and failures.
    • I'm glad I took his suggestion too, because this device turned out to be (if I may indulge in a small bit of irony) a Godsend
    • Also, had to call WD technical support on several occasions because the device would simply quit working.
    • Device is unable to see other NAS devices, so if it is your intent to back one nas to this one, it's not going to happen.
    • I really want to like this NAS device, but there are drawbacks.
    • I purchased this unit as a backup to protect my wedding and vacation photos
    • It worked as promised, as I first thought.
