    • Drive functions fine, no issues
    • I bought this drive because I need more space on my My book live that was a great product, so when I configured the new drive everything works good and no problems copying all my data to the new drive, but after 2-3 weeks I can't access to the drive and after restarting the drive start to make some rare sounds like HD damaged and front Led blinking red, and no more drive and all my data lost, after a reset the drive turn led blue and blinking without response yet.

    • I'm returning this one and buying a freaking flash drive, because apparently copying your files to the storage in order to back them up was too technologically difficult for these people.
    • I prefer network drives but there is not a lot to choose from.
    • WD has always been a reliable drive in my experience, so you really cannot go wrong with the unit itself
    • Make sure this goes on a Gigabit network, otherwise data transfer speeds are going to be really slow (8 megabytes per second max) and a drive this size will take forever to load up with your data.
    • I wanted to copy a file of 728 gig of my movie collection that i stopped because it only copied 228 gig 2 days later considering im using a gig ethernet, so now i just connect a another external hard drive to the wd cloud and access my movies that way.#3
    • Someone had taken out the 3tb hard drive and replaced it with a 30 gig
    • Easy to use and a great back up drive.
    • The drive was extremely easy to set up.
    • It's a giant hard drive that saves nothing
    • When I first set ii up, there was always a problem accessing the drive via the mycloud login or the ip address
    • Excellent drive!
    • This drive failed after ~3 weeks of service.
    • As of right now, about all I can do with it is use it like a standard external hard drive (which kinda defeats the purpose of an NAS), but even then I can't get the permissions to work right for the different users
    • It's a great drive
    • After backing up my photos onto the NAS, I noticed that the dashboard interface was extremely laggy, the fans run constantly, and you can hear the hard drives working 24/7.
    • ,This is a great implementation of Western Digitals "Blue" Hard drives in a RAID 1 environment
    • This drive has some well known network issues but the biggest problem is the software.
    • For instance, there is no way to select and drop files onto the icon or folder for the hard drive in Windows
    • The bottom line (at least for me) is that you have to forget about the My Cloud folder on your local hard drive
    • The only difference is the size of the hard drive.)
    • The drive itself works fine.
    • Took the remaining good drive from the WD NAS, installed it and the replacement drive from Amazon in the DS218+ and threw the WD NAS away.
    • This electrical engineer made senior algorithm developer for an aerospace company can't figure out how to make this thing work as a hard drive...
    • I will buy another hard drive and put a fan on top it heats up but not too
    • I also had a power outage, and once my UPS drained, the drive went down.
    • This was the best external hard drive purchase I've ever made
    • The drive failed within several months of getting the product
    • This speed is on par due to 7200 rpm hard drives on a gigabit network.
    • I don't think this type of hard drive is going to be much fun using as a primary external hard drive due to the normal lag issues, but for my purpose I am quite happy with the result
    • The included USB backup function almost never worked with an attached portable drive
    • It's too slow due to its CPU, the hard drive itself is fast, and can achieve the speed of
    • I only took one star away because of how well the drive works with everything but mobile access.
    • Portable External Hard Drive -
    • That I can get to my files as I travel is a major plus, yes this drive has remote capabilities.
    • I suspect the hard drive gets too hot
    • The one issue I have is it is the noisiest drive I have head in years
    • and it’s never back up my entire hard drive.
    • The only downside is it is not as real-time as Dropbox or Onedrive, but the good side is it does not consume hard drive space because it will only download the file that you want to access
    • They make very good local network drives, but then there are far cheaper options for local network drives.
    • Without much configuration, the drive is available across the internet
    • Yes, it is a personal network and not a "Professional network" but intuitively, I have my files on a hard drive at my house
    • WD makes great hard drive
    • Guess what... red blinking light issue... turns out there is a 27Gb Hard drive inside from year 2000!!!!
    • The drive was difficult to set up
    • Even before the overall failure, the drive was very slow and constantly needed to be rebooted or would lose connectivity to my network.
    • I like that the drive is very user friendly when it comes to setting up the folders, users, and various settings.
    • You cannot believe how great this drive is
    • Instead, you have to navigate to the WD Sync folder (also on your local hard drive) and then either drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste files and folders into that folder
    • a lots or the fan bearing wear out, then the hard drive heats up and burned out
    • I took the hard drive out and put it in the case and WD fixed
    • You can use almost any other free service, or cheap backup drive, if you want a more reliable solution.
    • Just get an external hard drive a don't waste your money on this junk.
    • They determined the USB hard drive I plugged into it had power problems and would drag the My Cloud Drive down
    • Returning it today and installing an external hard drive instead.
    • I used to own a LaCie Cloudbox, which was very problematic from the get-go; both the drive and software were a major pain to use
    • If you want 8 Tb of hard drive space purchase the 16 Tb model
    • The drive is constantly losing network connection and not showing up on my File Explorer for Network devices at all.
    • I mean, one mapped drive needed 28 hours to transfer compared 5 1/2 hours copying to my internal hard drive
    • This is the worst external hard drive I have ever purchased.
    • After spending more than 3 hours pos it and still having issues, I decided to just go to a large external hard drive.
    • Never saw the steady blue light which would have meant the OS was loaded and the hard drive was ready
    • Until they do, you're just buying a very expensive external hard drive.
    • the most useless hard drive ever invented
    • Access inside the app is a bit clunky but drive is fast and works well.
    • Access inside the app is a bit clunky but drive is fast and works well.
    • I have had better luck with a NAS drive where I am doing mirrored hard drives.
    • I bought this device as a network drive onto which I could offload files from my near filled to capacity laptop hard drive
    • Since this is a mirror drive, you get a pair of 4 Tb hard drives, one mirrors the other as a backup
    • But after I installed the WD Sync software, it loaded up the drive with so much data that it kept saying it was 95% full and then the drive became extremely slow.
    • Great drive!
    • Then I realized I could just plug my external hard drive into the USB jack and voila, it's online too!!
    • I purchased this unit as a backup to protect my wedding and vacation photos
    • It worked as promised, as I first thought.
