WD 3TB My Cloud Personal Network Attached Storage - NAS - WDBCTL0030HWT-NESN

    • but I think its a great way to have a home NAS without getting too expensive.
    • Easy to set up, just follow the instructions, n to upload to the cloud easiest way for me was download wd smartware n wd access
    • My review:The setup is simple and yet the device behaves in strange ways.
    • But above all, the way one has to access and move files beggars belief and is just stupid
    • the model number said this would be appropriate for PlEX software , once i got it , it doesnt work.. now I am using it as a simple network hard drive.. dont know if its amazon fault or WD.. either way disappointed the way I got "convinced" into buying this product.
    • The 3TB is handling our collecting well at this point, and I know we will eventually need to grow, but for now, this was a great way to to enter the NAS space.
    • I have found no good way to do this yet
    • Either way, I like it how it is for what I need
    • I have better ways to be spending my time that endless troubleshooting sessions that dont lead to solutions
    • So far it really works the way it supposed to.
    • There is not a good way to restart it when it looses connectivity other than to power cycle WD My Cloud
    • However, be warned that the newer generation of My Cloud Home has stripped all of these features out, and left only online cloud access as the only way to access your data
    • On the top of it, there is not easy way to recover files from it
    • A very inexpensive way to add network storage to your home
    • Either way, I have lost no data and the product has been great to date!!
    • Decent price for a personal cloud, easy and quick way of backing up data across different devices
    • - I wanted an easy way to back up all those pictures and miscellany into one place
    • Well, the way I think is that I want to block all the IP's in the world except for my cameras.
    • But there are better ways to store your files, and Western Digital didn't have all their eggs before they were hatched here
    • After dallying with the aforementioned difficulties for hours, everything works just the way that I'd hoped.
    • While it is a great way to store and access your data it has some serious interaction flaws
    • It appears that in order to get the device working really smoothly you need to hack into it and play around with things like Linux programs - this is way beyond the likes of someone like me and probably most people out there
    • The user interface is a little clumsy and it seems to have a lot of redundant features and multiple ways to access your files.
    • I may have missed something, so there may be another way to do this, but as opposed to using the "Map network drive" function in Windows File Explorer (Win10), you can "mount public share" on the drive by right
    • There is a faster way to transfer via the cloud portal in a web browser
    • Western Digital's My Cloud Personal Network is a more secure way of storing and transferring all of your data from one small device, and transferring it into your newer devices
    • AN EXTERNAL DRIVE, MOST FASTER WAY TO TRANSFER DATA
    • But if you want to use a lot of the advanced features of this device and/or have a lot of media, there are better ways to spend your money.
    • I found a much easier way to keep the mycloud on the same IP address by changing the router setup
    • I was hoping it would be a convenient, reliable way of backing up the various computers and mobile devices my family has.
    • This is a great way to have access to all of my documents in a secure placeSo far it's been a great
    • There is no safe way to power down the unit.
    • Way more worth it to just pay one of the online cloud services for your back up needs
    • It is also a convenient and strong way of having your devices from your tablets and Smart TV's share your media into one small convenient device
    • It's a very good way to storage your pictures
    • Learned the hard way
    • As a result I am looking into an easier way to backup all users on my computer.
    • I found that the ABSOLUTE BEST WAY to transfer files to the new My Cloud Drive was to connect the My Cloud directly to your computer via the Ethernet Cable and then plug your USB Hard Drive into the same computer.
    • As a father of two I purchased this NAS as an easy way to save all my family photographs and videos in one place
    • Great way to store your stuff
    • Bought this to put at a remote office as a cheap way to roll some regular software updates to our staff without having do VPN setups.
    • Once I started to set up the equipment is when I started to come across some aspects that in my opinion could have been done in a much more user friendly way.
    • , I though this would be a great way to access my data from wherever, but I am a bit disappointed
    • Expensive way to get a WD Red drive, but at least I was able to make use of the hardware.
    • I tried storing some of the music files from my phone to My Cloud..the "file manager" in the My Cloud app lists all the files in some bizarre way, not numerical, not alphabetical, and no way to sort
    • So there's no "safe" way to shut down the device.
    • It's a great way to save space and transfer photos etc
    • Those tools kind of exist, but not in any meaningful way.
    • When away from home, it provides a seamless way to access that data.
    • This was supposed to be an easy way to back up pictures and videos from our phones, and files from our computer, but it's been nothing but a headache.
    • It looks like the bean counters got their way and they saved a few bucks but designed an inferior product
    • software.2 - There is no clean way to shut down this device from an iPad.
    • It seemed to meet my needs initially, but after 10 months the unit failed (either a drive or networking failure, but either way my data is lost)
    • This way, if your computer gear is stolen then it means that it is SOMEWHAT less likely to be stolen along with everything else and leaving you with no backups
    • Right now my printer isn't working so this is the best way I can look at all my many
    • I can access all of this from my Window and Mac PC's, as well as, my smart Phones and tablets.
    • I use it for DLNA, Mac backup and mountable drive as well as for PC.
    • Borderline defective as of right now
    • This is a great network drive for your photos, videos, music, as well as for document backup
    • Bottom Line is it does work and does appear to deliver the promised results but it is nowhere near as easy or straightforward as the marketing leads you to believe.
    • Overall the device promises a
