WD 8TB My Cloud EX2 Ultra Network Attached Storage - NAS - WDBVBZ0080JCH-NESN

    • I changed the name (shortened it) and I use static IP addresses on all of my devices and computers which was very easy to set up and change with the NAS interface
    • The software for this thing is horrible, it keeps crashing on Windows 10 and took me two hours before my computer was able to finally map it as a network drive before it randomly disappeared again (even on a static IP address and also, the IP DIDN'T CHANGE, it stayed the same
    • Since the NAS wasn't working for me when I applied a static IP address, I've been running in the default DHCP mode which means that IP address can and will change from time to time.
    • Among the dynamic assigned internet addresses that are displayed, look for the physical (MAC) address of the My Cloud EX2; write down the corresponding Internet Address (ip address)(3
    • I tried a lot of other suggestions I found online including setting a static IP address etc
    • Based on my experience to date, while I wish I could, I cannot recommend purchasing this product unless WD addresses these issues
    • WD also has a very good reputation for the quality of their hard drives, as well as for customer support.
    • Just got this NAS to help me backup my photography as well as give me access to all my files on the drive while away.
    • I have since ordered 6 more for various clients as well as for internal use
    • Copying files to and from the NAS is only about half as fast as copying between PCs, usually about 40MB/s on Windows's speed indicator
