WD 8TB My Cloud EX2 Ultra Network Attached Storage - NAS - WDBVBZ0080JCH-NESN

    • Device seems stable enough that you can get around these issues just by copying your config, and restoring if ever you need to reload the NAS, so these faults alone weren't enough reason for me to return the device.
    • The device works great for streaming native movie files to the Xbox One and my VLC app
    • You can use a more powerful device (such as your computer) as the server, and host the files on the NAS; or use a tool such as Handbrake to convert the files to a direct play format
    • Pretty good device so
    • My Cloud is different from the 2 TB version, and those devices are both are much more responsive than the smaller My Cloud device is.
    • I like the device
    • i have to return this useless device
    • If you are not planning on hiring an administrator or writing your own software to do your regular backups, I wouldn't recommend this device to you.
    • Device was very easy to set up.
    • Still, this device defied my ability to get it working for time machine storage or even as a reliable network storage device
    • It's great for streaming data to smart devices like TVs, tablets, PCs, etc.
    • The device has been working nearly
    • As a backup drive and access to my files online as well as a backup device for my iPhone I am very pleased.
    • The device is easy to set up and manage
    • First and foremost: This device is not as straightforward as some other types of devices designed towards the home user
    • Awesome device!
    • This device is a complete joke and it will represent my last WD purchase
    • This is an awesome cloud device!
    • I haven't spent much time focused on the software as backing up to a 16tb WD Duo (great device as well
    • This device is a huge fail from an admin perspective
    • Half as fast or less writing to NAS as any other devices in network (striped!
    • We ordered this because it was one of the most cost effective high capacity network attached storage devices available
    • but then I restart the device and it works again no problem
    • Great device
    • That device worked great up until the day I unplugged it and replaced it with the EX4100.
    • Still, this device defied my ability to get it working for time machine storage or even as a reliable network storage device
    • But yes, this device is the best I have used from western digital, and I have been using there products since 2008.
    • I love it device.
    • However, after receiving one (which I will be returning, by the way) I have concluded that this device is absolutely no better than simply setting up a desktop PC with the same amount of hard drives in and networking them/sharing them across your network
    • This is why I would recommend the lower cost Mycloud device.
    • the device just was unreachable
    • The device runs hot, the internal fan does a marginal job of cooling the device and drives.
    • Cooling fan failed after just 4 months , not good for what is supposed to be a high quality data critical device.
    • Has nice features like wifi/web access for pc and mobile devices fairly easy to setup and access.
    • but as with other WD Cloud NAS and USB devices use propriority OS recording technique which makes it almost impossible to get your data if the device fails for any reason also almost impossible to replace the hard drive in case of failure or upgrade.
    • Finding a way to share data between all devices and having a central area to backup to was one of the things that I wanted to accomplish so when this device became available, I decided to try it.
    • Nice device, fast delivery, worked right from the box
    • The device seemed to like my drives as they were, so to test this theory, I chose a machine with the least to backup and connected its Time Machine to the new NAS
    • Unreliable; device constantly becomes "unavailable"
    • I'm enjoying my device, have to admit it took me a while to figure out how to set it up and then to access the information I wanted to install on it
    • This is a great storage device with considerable office environment options
    • Speed aside utilizing WD Sync, I like the device.
    • Device works well and easy setup.
    • My Cloud NAS devices" for details.)I can't tell if this is incompetence on behalf of WD, or just lack of concern for my security, but either way, I am getting rid of this device.---------This is a great little NAS device -- flexible/configurable
    • This is a pretty big flaw and why I do not recommend this device for backup of critical data.
    • We found this device to be unusable and instructions to be non-existent
    • Upon logging in and accessing the Home page….there’s an overview of system health, capacity, storage used and remaining, CPU and memory data, users currently accessed, cloud devices attached and more
    • Still, I would not recommend this device for a true Enterprise solution
    • Paranoid I will lose all of my kids photos and videos, so putting up the money for this was a tough decision, but glad I made it
