WD 8TB My Cloud EX2 Ultra Network Attached Storage - NAS - WDBVBZ0080JCH-NESN

    • I changed the name (shortened it) and I use static IP addresses on all of my devices and computers which was very easy to set up and change with the NAS interface
    • (!!!)3) once the back up starts ( using static IP ) the target folder - if it has any kind of data there, it will get totally corrupted; no way to recover anything
    • The software for this thing is horrible, it keeps crashing on Windows 10 and took me two hours before my computer was able to finally map it as a network drive before it randomly disappeared again (even on a static IP address and also, the IP DIDN'T CHANGE, it stayed the same
    • Since the NAS wasn't working for me when I applied a static IP address, I've been running in the default DHCP mode which means that IP address can and will change from time to time.
    • I also gave the drive a Static IP.
    • For those of you having this issue or thinking about buying it, all the solutions that are on the forums online, such as setting static ip and doing system restore, WILL NOT fix this issue
    • I tried a lot of other suggestions I found online including setting a static IP address etc
    • it does not work if you do not have a static IP ( public that is
    • Paranoid I will lose all of my kids photos and videos, so putting up the money for this was a tough decision, but glad I made it
