Western Digital Caviar Green 3 TB SATA III 64 MB Cache Bare/OEM Desktop Hard Drive - WD30EZRX

    • It is used in a desktop PC as a system drive (Windows 8.1), and I disabled the head parking with WDIDLE3 pretty early in the beginning to prevent any issues in the future
    • I ran /D to disable parking on this hard drive and I noticed very slow transfer rates, I first thought it was a defective
    • Ordered this in 2015 and the DOS tool method to disable head-parking still works
    • Back to the warning about newer EZRX hard drives, It's well known by now that Green drives have the parking problem and many people will attempt to disable the head parking, which by default is every 8 seconds
    • Used the wdidle tool to disable parking.
    • If you decide to put this drive into any DVR type system you would be well advised to grab the wdidle utility (at least that's what I recall it being called) to make sure the intelligent park feature is disabled
    • Run as fast as you can and don't look back!
    • i recommend as it could be used for backups or in my media box as I am using it
    • " I ordered with this, as well as trying two different sata connections on the mother board and two different power connections (supplied by HP in my computer)
    • Removed it from the case and i have it lying around as i don't live in the US and sending it back is as expensive as buying a new one
    • All of the drives are still holding up just fine as of today
