After about 2-3 days of continuous file transfer from multiple hard drives (USB external) and after 2.5 TB worth of transfer later this drive started acting up with error messages

So my suggestion is if you don't want to do the extra work get a 2 TB hard drive, or google and read about "installing a 3 TB hard drive, system doesn't detect 3 TB hard drive" etc. and watch a couple of you tube videos.
