I have both good and bad things to comment about the radio, now that I have used it for a while

Only thing to watch out for is premature partial failures of the LCD screen, particularly when used mobile and exposed to vibration/temp swings

However, the benefits of the 857 are simple things, like its design, e.g. dual fans, detachable front panel, nice looking radio with front controls, etc.

Extra knobs and buttons are a good thing
