Sadly, Yamaha seems to have foregone the rest of what purchasing a reasonably decent quality sound reproducing apparatus and it's obligation to the consumer of providing quality in all aspects for the price it is asking.

The sound quality is great and I have it playing through our surround sound system in the family room (stereo mode).

However, the sound quality is so good that the need for headphones is greatly reduced, so I don't think I'll miss using them much.

In replacing an old Yamaha Natural Sound 5CD, I wasted money on a single CD Cambridge Audio (excellent) and a 5 disk Sony (junk), before coming back to the Yamaha that does everything I need and with sound quality difficult to distinguish from the Cambridge.
