I just needed one for my system and this had great reviews.

Decided on Yamaha because of other great reviews on CD Changers that are now no longer in production.

I was very excited to read the mostly good reviews on this Yamaha CD player.

Maybe I got a lemon based on the other good reviews here

I picked this model because it wasn't cheap, got good reviews for it's sound, and had the added feature of mp3 hook up.

I returned mine via Amazon's wonderful customer service.

After waiting for a week to hear from Yamaha, I returned the unit, requesting a replacement, since I was still a faithful customer and I understood that sometime you get the one that falls between the cracks

I had been a happy and loyal Yamaha customer for the last 15 years...until now

This one has some nice features and the sound quality is fine

The most important quality of a CD changer is the sound that it produces

so I don't know how long it will last, but the sound quality is surprisingly better than the Sony player that it replaced

It replaced a Magnavox 5 CD Changer that was not working any more.

We got this product and it didn't work, so we sent it back and got another brand.

I can understand why some folks rated it low, if they had received a defective product, but any other complaints about it being too noisy, etc. are nit picking

This unit replaces a defunct earlier model that offered substantial reproduction, sorry for its demise.

The Yamaha CD-C600 is a great unit, with very good sound

so I want the best unit I can get now before they are extinct

I bought this unit after my Denon DMC-290 5-CD carousel died after years of use (6-12 hours a day).

I can no longer afford the really top notch units but this unit is above the general run of the mill players

I liked the features, the reliability and the sound of my old changer.

This one has some nice features and the sound quality is fine

In looking for an alternative I found a much less expensive, albeit less audiophile featured, Sony CDP-CE 500.

Now the bad, a real annoying "feature" is that when you turn on the unit you cannot hit the open button until it has loaded the first disc

All said the Yamaha CD-C600 has some nice features such as Random mode, Disc Scan which scans beginning of all CDs, Play Memory Mode, which resumes your last track played and an Auto Standby feature

I suspect CD players, and changers in particular, are going away in the not to distant future

Other then the issue with the tray, the player is fantastic.

Although the booklet says you may be able to connect other players it didn't like my phone or either of my other two players that can handle the FLAC format.

my husband is in charge of playing cd's for our congregation & was having problems finding a player with any quality,but this player has by far surpassed his expectations

I would definitely not recommend this player, and given the bad customer service experience I had, I would not recommend Yamaha.

This Yamaha was more money but the difference in quality is obvious: no LOUD clunking noises as it changes discs and a much, much better sound quality.

I have been using an old old Sony 5 disc player that still works but wanted to update it.

I bought this unit to replace a 13 year old, relatively inexpensive Kenwood 5-disc changer

Loading and unloading discs is not really a problem if you are careful

The quirky and possibly non-functional Yamaha, the "haunted" Onkyo, or the cheaper Sony, (which I have also owned at one point, and which doesn't even publish their S/N ratio?Yes, single-disc players exist which are likely built better, but that defeats the purpose of trying to have music play without having to run over and putter with my components ever 45 minutes or so
