Yamaha DD65 Electronic Drum Pad Premium Package with Headphones, Power Supply, Drum Sticks, and 2 Foot Pedals

    • The two pedals for kick and hi-hat are basically "good enough" to get the job done, especially for 12 year olds, but for someone with more experience, you might want to use standard pedals (which should technically work). Now let's talk about how Kevin B. Selby uses this thang.
    • The pedals were extremely cheap, and you'll just end up purchasing additional equipment to appease yourself rather than just saving your money for a full electronic kit like the Nitro Kit.
    • The correct pedals should be shown with the photos
    • This set is almost good enough for a beginning drummer, or to be a super portable kit for an experienced drummer, but the pedals are lousy, and you have to choose full sets of pre programmed drums, none of which are quite right, instead of being able to mix and match.
    • Many different realistic drum sounds/kits, velocity sensitive pads, pedals, and more features for us to discover and grow into
    • The pedals suck.
    • After a month of playing, I can now keep a beat, do some nice fills, and even some fancy foot work with the nicer pedals
    • You will need to invest in a bass drum trigger/kick pedal as well as a high hat pedal to make this into a truly great setup.
    • However the bass and high hot "pedal-buttons" are terrible
    • The high hat and base pedals could be more robust but the overall sound is great.
    • Well it's actually not so much the pedal as it's the input/output part for it on drums itself
    • The significant criticisms I have seen made by others are 1) unrealistic sound 2) unwanted sounds from adjacent pads and 3) bad foot pedals that slide around
    • The layout of the drum pads is great, the fact that you have 8 pads and 2 pedals is great unlike more intermediate products such as from Alesis and Roland which have 8 pads 4x2 pads
    • The small pedals are not responsive
    • (This is her first experience drumming though -- I don't know what a real drummer would think.)The only downside is the lousy pedals, which are just on/off switches
    • The pedals aren't great, but they work and definitely help me build muscle/memory for hitting the pedals at the right times.
    • Both pedals are excellent and work quite well with the DD-65
    • The good news is that for another $200ish you can buy two nice pedals for the hi-hat and kick drum, and they'll work on carpet no problem
    • Also consider that good pedals cost more than the ones supplied here and that is why probably Yamaha did not include them
    • I am also confused as to why the price of the ailing kit is the same as the drum machine itself
    • They really don't work well as you would expect compared to an acoustic drum set
