Yamaha THR10 Desktop Guitar Amplifier and Interface with Cubase AI Recording Software

    • The favorite seems to be the Matchless setting, nearly clean, with the guitarists pedal board for their own sound
    • I had a problem with mine when running on battery power (with a fresh set of AA Alkalines).
    • and I don't think an acoustic in the clean setting would be loud enough.
    • Not a bad set up if all you want to do is hear yourself.
    • I don't use the recommended "EG Clean" setting; I use the "Condenser Mic" setting, which gives just the right tone for jazz guitar by helping to preserve the acoustic sonorities of my archtop while at the same time amplifying them.
    • The THR10C has a terrific set of amp models, but I tend to use the Deluxe model the most
    • Modulation effects were OK to get a rocktron sort of sound through the clean setting
    • But this amp had to be low enough volume for my son and my godson to play around on, it had to have decent set of features, it had to portable, and it had to accommodate both acoustic and electric guitars
    • FLAT sounds boring, but is extremely useful - this would be the setting you would us to plug an external device (synthesizer) or perhaps a preamp pedal like a Tech21 to use the THR10 more or less like a PA or power amp
    • The pre-sets were decent - a little trebly, that could be my ear
    • It also has the perfect set of features combined with an amp-like simplicity
    • You can get beautiful cleans or you can go to the max and get some serious heavy sounds on the modern amp setting
    • A single set of 8x AA lasts quite a while actually but its always nice to have a backup because charging them can take a while.
    • If your looking for a spongy slightly over driven, touch sensitive tube amp sound, think of a vintage Deluxe Reverb with volume on 6, the Yamaha will do that with increased gain in the clean setting
    • If i had to give it any cons i would say i wish it had a foot switch and some way to see what your settings were per favorite setting but this amp does
    • For practice in a sound sensitive setting, this little number is about perfect
    • I a/b switch this with a THR5X in the clean setting to get my channel switching done.
