The recorder sounded like there was an obstruction, but after inspecting, checking the joints, and cleaning a number of times, there were still problems.
It has a nice sound, not shrill like a child's recorder.
I have a cheap-o plastic child's recorder and needed something a little nicer to play with a choral group.
The sound is clear and soft and less harsh than the school recorder
I personally like the sound of this better than the YRS-312B.
It comes with a cleaning rod, cream for the joints, a fairly nice carrying case that zips, and a small insert with a fingering chart
This Japanese made recorder comes with a zipper case, a fingering chart, care instructions, a cleaning rod and a tin of lubricant.
It is great for practice as it needs a lot less care and maintainence then the wooden ones.it also comes with a very nice canvas bag, cleaning rod, and a small can of cork grease.
Low D is very difficult to get any sound.

Very good baroque soprano recorder here, I can say after playing for fifteen years!
According to my 9 year old, this recorder is better than those of his classmates.
I purchased two of these recorders: one as a replacement for my daughter's inexpensive soprano recorder (which my 3 year-old son shattered while playing golf) and one to play when I travel
To my ear, in comparison to the less expensive Yamaha soprano recorders, the notes on this model are truer
This recorder compensates a bit better for some of my inadequacies (I'm still and may always be a beginner!).
If the lower notes were as easy to play as the notes at G and above I would recommend this instrument as an excellent practice and learning instrument would recommend and give it a 5 star rating.
I've enjoyed playing this recorder--it has a good sound and even the very lowest notes are easy to play

High notes are more accurate, and the lower register just plain sings
The notes only start becoming difficult in the third octave, but it's still a world's difference better from my old instrument
