Keeping the recorder warm just before playing (hold headpiece in hands or pocket) will solve "loading" clogging problems due to condensation

To my ear, in comparison to the less expensive Yamaha soprano recorders, the notes on this model are truer

I would not recommend this recorder at all.

The sound is DEFINITELY superior to my cheap recorders (one-piece $2.75, three-piece $7), but I am no flautist, it seems, and this instrument is no flute.

This Yamaha is a good recorder.

It is an excellent recorder for very little money

Nevertheless, and toy it may be, if you're looking for an inexpensive instrument, recorder is great for teaching beginners the rudiments of reading music and playing an instrument, and it can really help eliminate frustration (and squeaky off-notes) if you start with a REAL instrument, like this Yamaha, instead of the $2 recorders.

The yamaha 300-series tend to be much better quality than the cheaper wooden recorders (which you will need to fork out more money for, than for the yamaha 300)

Well, it will be nice finally having a decent recorder, but it will probably not make up for what a lousy musician I probably am

I purchased two of these recorders: one as a replacement for my daughter's inexpensive soprano recorder (which my 3 year-old son shattered while playing golf) and one to play when I travel

Awesome recorder

It has a notably better tone than even the student-grade white Yamaha (which itself is far better than other cheap recorders) - even my young sons could pick out the tonal difference after I first demonstrated it for them, and then asked them to close their eyes and tell me which I was playing

I own a range of plastic and wooden recorders, and this is my favorite - a rich, warm, vibrant sound that has a hint of flute-ness, far better than cheaper recorders

I think that's part of the reason why recorders have such a bad reputation; kids shrieking on their school issued recorders can send any adult running

I'm still looking for the "perfect" recorder that is not too pricey, has great tone, and can be played for extended time without moisture problems impacting playability.

For this reason, I would not recommend this recorder for beginners or kids with no experience

You couldn't ask for a better plastic recorder, and you'd have to spend probably $300 for a better quality recorder.

I have a cheap-o plastic child's recorder and needed something a little nicer to play with a choral group.

Low D is very difficult to get any sound.
