This resetting should not happen and the camera should maintain the user's settings until the user changes it himself (this also applies to the video mode points mentioned above).Overall Xiaomi has made great progress so far with the Yi M1

Although Xiaomi has a long way to go, they are making great progress and I would encourage them to keep churning out more firmware updates
