Zoom H1n Handy Recorder (2018 Model)

    • Any cheap closed ear headphones will help you find the sweet spot between low noise floor and strong signal for whatever background noise is around you.(2
    • Definitely needs a wind screen (an additional $10-14 expemse); Without a wind screen, on a quiet day with very little wind present, the wind background noise makes near impossible to hear the main recording; Has no automatic shut-off (at least I was unable to find such a setting and on its own it just doesn't shut itself off).
    • And with the background noise, the voices were often indistinguishable from the noise.
    • Record 30 seconds of just background noise and you'll
    • The auto recording level contributes to this background noise when outdoor
    • But we tried female and child voices as well to test the range of the recorders abilities, and both the female and child voices were much more difficult to hear even without the background noise.
    • This mic allowed me to record the audio in a format that would allow me to add it as a layer in the video, so I could cut out most of the background noise.
    • Background noises do not overpower their voices.
    • The lo-cut feature (just a switch) nicely cuts out background noise
    • Background noises do not overpower their voices.
    • I use the Zoom H1 primarily for recording interviews with media subjects at conventions, and more often than not these interviews take place in a less than optimal recording situation, such as a crowded convention hall with a lot of peripheral background noise, or in a meeting room adjacent to other meeting rooms where other (loud) conversations are taking place
    • With 64,000 people in the building, there was a lot of background noise
    • Doing this for the Zoom recordings yielded suitable recordings for voice as long as I don’t need anything “professional,” and as long as I was OK with some background noise due to the amount of amplification
    • If you’re filming outside it has a built in LO-CUT feature which helps to dissipate ambient background noise and wind noise while active
    • From farther away even without background noise, the Zoom H1 did not pick up well.
    • The built in speaker is HORRIBLE in both volume and sound quality to the point of being useless for any environment except for the perfect quiet of my office; any time with background noise such as coffee
    • I have also carried it around with me to get background noise and it has done a great job with that as well
    • I attach this to a tripod, as carrying it around can create a lot of background noise.
    • It has all spectrum well covered with built in mic and absolutely no internal background noise
    • It has stereo sound, which will record into left and right channels, which is great for recording interviews or background noise
    • Not well suited for nature recordings, due to excessive background noise
    • There is a lo-cut quick-switch on the back that cuts out excess background noise well
    • We use it with a cable plugged in directly to eliminate all background noise.
    • Both require some manipulation to sound solid, loud enough, and to eliminate background noise (through Audacity)
    • so no background noises picked up either, you can still take out that sound by moving the mic further away
    • The Zoom H2 is only $30 more ... could someone comment on any advantages and recommend a selection? Thanks!
    • it came with and the audio is quite clear as long as it is pointed in your general direction, but not as good as with the lapel mic
    • audiophile-grade playback gear and the 96kHz LP rips I make on the H1 still sound about as good as those made on any other ADC I've got
    • Technically it is as good as without the tape hiss, weighs less than one mike and carries in my pocket not my car trunk
    • The built in auto level doesn't work as well as I would've hoped
    • The quality of recordings seems to be as good as with the higher priced units.
    • I advise getting a strong windscreen because the one sold in the accessory pack did not work as effectively as I would have liked.
    • Pros:- Microphones are clear with a wide field and well-separated between L/R- Easy to set up - not too many things to
    • Awesome recorder get it u won't be disappointed
