I would recommend a larger SD card and the Zoom Dead Cat to reduce wind noise when using this outside
-
I only suggest you also purchase the wind cover and a dead cat mic cover
-
Coincidentally I watched a 12-piece orchestra perform at the Fat Cat in the West Village NYC last night, and guess what the maestro mounted and started recording with for their performance?
-
introduces tons of wind noise, so a 'dead cat' windscreen is practically obligatory, as is a shock mount.
-
Outdoors, use a 'dead cat'.Pros:1.Excellent sound.2.Excellent battery life, even with a AAA (saves a couple of ounces travel weight).3.It just works
-
Dead-Cat is needed.
-
Definitely going to need a dead cat because the slightest air flow will be disruptive.

The Zoom H2 is only $30 more ... could someone comment on any advantages and recommend a selection? Thanks!
-
it came with and the audio is quite clear as long as it is pointed in your general direction, but not as good as with the lapel mic
-
audiophile-grade playback gear and the 96kHz LP rips I make on the H1 still sound about as good as those made on any other ADC I've got
-
Technically it is as good as without the tape hiss, weighs less than one mike and carries in my pocket not my car trunk
-
The built in auto level doesn't work as well as I would've hoped
-
The quality of recordings seems to be as good as with the higher priced units.

I advise getting a strong windscreen because the one sold in the accessory pack did not work as effectively as I would have liked.
