Zoom H1n Handy Recorder (2018 Model)

    • As others have mentioned the unit does feel cheap, transmits handling noise, and the tripod mount is weak plastic, but the same can be said of any other digital recorder in this price range.
    • I think another review here mentions that the plastic that this is made out of is kind of lightweight and picks up a lot of handling noise - I found that to be the case, anyway, so hold it carefully, use the tripod mount (standard camera
    • With handling-noise having been taken care of, it is brilliant, so much so in fact that a local secondary school was recently spotted shooting a film for a competition outside our driveway, and the kids were using a Zoom H1 to record the audio obtained from a separate microphone on a boom-pole which was being held by a student audio recordist
    • The only negative is the handling noise
    • & I'm having trouble avoiding microphone handling noise
    • The only problem with the device is its hard plastic body, where every, I mean EVERY handling noise will be recorded also together with the sounds you were hunting for
    • Consider mounting this recorder on a tripod to reduce handling noise.
    • The other exception is the handling noise.
    • Cheap plastic feel to it and the recording was not even all the way around plus it picked up a fair amount of handling noise
    • This is a very flexible and useful video accessory to have, and apart from the handling-noise problem, (which may be overcome as I have described), great value for money.
    • I would suggest using a mini tripod and always set it down to ensure the best quality without any handling noise.
    • Many reviewers have commented on handling noise
    • But just a heads up for the people that want to have a clean sound, this recorder has a bit of handling noise and will need a screw on handle to get rid of all sqeaks, and thumps.
    • The Zoom H2 is only $30 more ... could someone comment on any advantages and recommend a selection? Thanks!
    • it came with and the audio is quite clear as long as it is pointed in your general direction, but not as good as with the lapel mic
    • audiophile-grade playback gear and the 96kHz LP rips I make on the H1 still sound about as good as those made on any other ADC I've got
    • Technically it is as good as without the tape hiss, weighs less than one mike and carries in my pocket not my car trunk
    • The built in auto level doesn't work as well as I would've hoped
    • The quality of recordings seems to be as good as with the higher priced units.
    • I advise getting a strong windscreen because the one sold in the accessory pack did not work as effectively as I would have liked.
    • Pros:- Microphones are clear with a wide field and well-separated between L/R- Easy to set up - not too many things to
