Most smart phones phone with a plug-in mike would do as good a job and be far more portable, with more intuitive controls and better post-recording processing

But in truth, I've seen cheaper digital voice recorders that do just as good a job of recording and as mentioned, my cell phone records as well as this unit

It does an excellent job for its price point.

Until I invest in a heavy duty mic as a line-in recording device, I won't really be able to say it does a fantastic job.

I use it to multi-track record video interviews, and it does a great job.

I have also carried it around with me to get background noise and it has done a great job with that as well

I've tried a lot of digital recorders at much higher prices with much more gadgetry, but this is my favorite for a good, simple job well done.

But, I put on a lav mic, and it did an exceptional job not only recording the person attached but also someone across 4 feet away on the same lav mic, so saving me the trouble of editing with two audio.

This product has been around for a long time -because it does a great job at basic recording

but it didn't necessarily do a better job

I have also used it to record a class presentation and it did an outstanding job

It does a nice job of being directional (and minimizing crowd conversations, etc)

Equipment failure on a very expensive job is the most frustrating thing ever

Zoom has higher numbered models with more features and many more styles of input and signal processing but the H1 is a basic unit that does a great job of recording for a relatively basic price.

It does a great job getting the sound I need when shooting with my DSLR.

Still, it does a great job, but you may want to consider the H4N Pro if you are looking for that extra degree of flexibility

Get the job done and love how portable it is

I use it to record all of the audio for my YouTube channel and it does a great job

It's small, light, and does a great job.

The built-in stereo microphones do a decent enough job for where they are, but I was even more impressed that I could simply plug in an external pair of stereo plug-in-power condenser mikes, and have this thing do some amazing wide stereo recordings also, and all powered off the single internal AA battery

For my pureIy amateur use it does a good job, it may be too basic for more professional applications

I don't have any experience with how this would record a college lecture from the back of the room, as my interviews generally take place in conversational situations, but I expect it would do a relatively fine job isolating the desired audio source better than a mobile phone would

If you are recording directly from the on-board mics on this recorder, they do a great job but do not move the recorder around as it picks up EVERYTHING.

It does a good job recording through it's stereo condenser mics as well

and it does a great job of capturing others around me also.

Other than that it does a great job, has all your sound adjustments, WAV or MP3 recording file types, and has a plug for earphones, to allow you to listen while or after you record.

It is a very quick and easy to use musical sketchpad which does a surprisingly good job of recording a full band with just the built in onboard mics.

An awesome handy little device that does its job, and well.

Took a while to figure out but is a great product that does a very adequate job of recording stories we wish to preserve.
