Great sound recording device

If you power this thing up to capture something impromptu, you'll either forget what you were going to say or the event will be over before the device is ready to use.

Lots of features and a 152 page manual to help you learn every aspect of this great recording device

The internal mics work nicely and don't peak like most devices do.

This is not the reason I gave it only 4 stars, even though it is a great recording device, some things could be asked for

AC adapters have few electronic components and should last much longer than the far more-complex devices they support

It probably is normally a good recording device, I just happened to get a bad one, so I sent it back and got a small Roland, which works very well and is a little simpler to use.

On Directv it is located somewhere around channel 260.Summing up--the H4n is a brilliant little device with great sound and a deep set of features.

They really thought of everything when designing this!In short, I love this device, and since its general sturdiness seems to have improved since the original H4, I'm hoping mine lasts me for many years to come, or until something smaller or, somehow, better, comes along to replace it.

When running a BFC from the sound board to the video camera for everyone to trip over isn't the best solution, enter the Zoom H4N.What a terrible device if that's all you need it for

Quite simply, I had no idea this level of quality and flexibility of features was available in a portable device.

But I was quite surprised that the QTCs did not put this device to shame as I suspected they would.

While I have heard that these devices can be great for recording concerts and have heard some great recordings to back that claim up my review will be focusing on my main use which is podcasting.

Once you find the uses that are appropriate for you (which you can do quickly) this device is as easy as using your TV.

The target group that will enjoy this device most are people who record their rehearsals, especially using the built-in mics - also, people making composition sketches using the 4ch multitrack mode that allows overdubbing(!... pretty incredible for such a tiny box for $300)All the functions sit right on the edge of being "almost pro", yet it isn't completely pristine, not really top notch:If your priority is top-quality, the bigger recorders such as the Tascam HD-P2 or the Korg MR-1000 or an Oade Bros modded Fostex FR2 are definitely better choices

I'm not techy, so the problem isn't the device

They are using it to record lectures and it did a great job so far and they are so pleased with how easy and efficient is this device to use.

Other than that I highly recommend this device.
