Built to last with outstanding recording quality
-
If you need a more versatile recording setup, check out the H5 or H6 which have the interchangeable microphone capsules allowing much more flexibility with recording applications and uses.
-
Improved rubberized case that is easier to handle- Improved recording quality and noise floor (see below)But the MOST improved aspect of the new H4N Pro is the audio quality
-
I set the device down after hitting record, and the zoom recorded one second of room noise before going silent
-
Not enough gain for a usable recording and so much his when the gainis at 100% that it sounds like a ocean in the background!Did you notice Zoom left out ALL specifications regarding single to noise ratios
-
So, if you are looking for a good solid recording tool this is for you.
-
Just lost yet another concert recording, as the battery operation did not work on this either (was it really a new one?).
-
Excellent recording quality and easy interface
-
It makes for an amazingly portable small recording setup
-
The H4N is the perfect portable stereo recording device!
-
Other plusses for this device were its ability to do either WAV or MP3 recording, the included AC adapter and other essential accessories (as well as Cubase recording software), etc.
-
Great recording quality
-
Great sound recording device
-
Like I say I have recorded with the H4n in sound insulated (studio) environments... and the recorder is perfect!
-
really great recording quality
-
Lots of features and a 152 page manual to help you learn every aspect of this great recording device
-
This is not the reason I gave it only 4 stars, even though it is a great recording device, some things could be asked for
-
The recorder is great in a lot of ways (and I'm still happy with it), but when record via the cord I get feedback problems
-
Much like rescuing a poorly exposed photograph that was shot in RAW, the audio recovered from that "messed up" recording far surpassed the audio from a GoPro or DSLR
-
I use it record reharseals and jams
-
Best recording device you can obtain at this price level.
-
It probably is normally a good recording device, I just happened to get a bad one, so I sent it back and got a small Roland, which works very well and is a little simpler to use.
-
Both can slow the recording down by 50%; both are usable but the sound of the Tascam DR-100 is somewhat better when slowed down, but both are compromised.
-
The recording encompasses you and captivates you.
-
the H4n let's the full band record decent quality tracks which we all use in between sessions to work out our own parts in more detail
-
It really is a compact recording studio
-
I've not had a failure, but, of course, don't drop it!Records up to 96khz/24 bit, which gives excellent soundCan record in stereoHas built-in 90-120° XY stereo mics which workIt supplies 48v phantom power if needed
-
I applaud Zoom for providing a great Auto Level Record mode, which means that for non-critical situations, I can just hit Record and go, while at the same time this instrument can be used in demanding situations that require manual settings
-
Very portable, records silently with no hissing in recording
-
And great versatility to record voice, plus instrumental sound
-
And great versatility to record voice, plus instrumental sound
-
Excellent recording device
-
Overall, I would highly recommend this for good-quality recording, though I would also invest in a larger SD card than the 2 GB one provided.
-
However, when you do need external mics, you can easily connect a boom mic and a wireless lav for excellent audio recording for video interviews or even reality tv show recording
-
I needed something to make a good recording of playing acoustic guitar and singing in my home studio.
-
I am very pleased with the recording quality, and flexibility!
-
It does take some playing around with to get comfortable recording with it
-
I can easily hook it up to my computer, plug in a 10$ SM57 clone to the XLR inputs, and it becomes great for recording big, loud instruments (trumpet, tuba, etc.
-
Fantastic mobile recording device.
-
It produces the best recording ever
-
It's ruggedly built, easy to use, and records wonderful soundThe directional mics on the top work great as a shotgun mic during interviews and scenes
-
what chord should i use for my keyboard to this gadget.we already record guitar its nice and smooth.
-
Thanks to Zoom and ProAudioDVDs.com for putting a great portable recording instrument into the hands of a non-audio engineer.
-
I just turned the recorder on & got a great recording
-
and im ready to do some modest field recording
-
I use it for acoustic piano, the most difficult instrument ro record, and I'm impressed by the clarity of the sound.
-
The top knobs rattle while recording but not if the recorder is stationary
-
The H4nSP lost one star for the menu system when recording in a mode OTHER THAN stereo through the on-board microphones, not having a wrist strap even though there is a slot for it, and for not including the AC adapter
-
This might be usable by beginners to recording, but I would recommend buying one of the tutorial DVDs from proaudiodvds.com to get you up to speed faster.
-
Nothing beats studio time but this gives a nice, clear recording for non-PR recordings.
-
A nicely form-fitting clear plastic case is included - I wouldn't rely on it to protect the Zoom recorded from extreme knocks, but it is a very nice bonus nonetheless
-
This is definitely a rugged device designed for clean quality records.
-
It is incredibly versatile in terms of its input capabilities and its built-in pre-amp allows for solid, crisp audio recording in any setting
-
great recording tool for podcasts.
-
How about a portable recording device
-
could be smaller and soon will be, for now a very handy sound recording tool at a really decent price.
-
I didn't buy this with the illusion of making pro recordings but was hoping that it would work well enough record tracks/loops which I could piece together on my PC.
-
The place have bad acoustics, lots of reverberation... and yet, when I got home and started to listen to the files on my computer, they were amazing! When recording, I activated the low cut filter (at 133) to avoid too much low frequencies, a limiter (for concerts) to avoid distortions/peaks and set the two internal mics volume to 2 (it ranges from 1 to 100)...
-
I've recorded varied things like outdoor ambient noise, my kids singing at home, direct input guitar, tuba and euphonium, a euphonium quartet, and the band that I play in.(30 piece concert band
-
Drums sound great recorded on these with just the zoom as an overhead
-
It also came with a copy of Cubase LE6 wich is an amazing software to record and edit.
-
and it still gives a great recording
-
The pre-amp in this thing really is very noisy (try recording as close to mic level 1 as you can)2
-
but why is there a dedicated button for this on the face of the device when it will ruin a recording like this
-
Works perfectly, and has a great sound quality, with many different options to enhance your recording
-
I've used mine for recording live acoustic (relatively quiet) music as well as plugged in punk rock shows
-
I've had my Zoom for about a year and it has made recording my podcast easy and convenient
-
I have been extremely impressed and I do believe this unit rivals pro audio recording devices costing 10 times more
-
The Zoom records great quality, and has a ton of features I haven't even used yet
-
Obviously it's not going to give you top-notch studio quality, but it's capable of making a nice sounding recording
-
+ Phenomenal recording quality for a portable recorder+ Excellent built-in stereo microphones+ Record level adjustment buttons on the hardware, rather than just on the software+ Two combined XLR and
-
Here's the bad part:When the H4n dies while recording, it will corrupt the files on the SD card
-
Handy recording device for lectures and presentations (which is what I use it for).
-
It is a great audio recording tool
-
I paired it with a shotgun mic on a boom pole, and now get good quality dialogue recording on my film projects
-
its responsive, easy to navigate and the audio recording tests I've done suggest it will be ideal for my video production purposes.
-
This means if the band gets too excited (that never happens), and blows out your recording causing it to clip, you've got your left channel to fall back on
-
Get to know the manual and you will really master this very powerful recording tool
-
I love the recording I make when I plug in a Sennheiser shotgun mic to this zoom recorder.
-
While built-in microphones provide sufficient sound clarity and recording at 24/96 produces sufficient frequency spectrum, the level of self-noise is simply overwhelming to me.
-
My recording went straight to trash
-
Excellent recording device!
-
Amazing live recording easy to use
-
With 4 ways to record, you get the insurance to have a good sound recorded from your projects.
-
It seems like it would have been very easy to make one of the unused buttons act like a divide when recording
-
If you want simplistic digital recording in a hand held unit, I suggest you try the Tascam DR-07 as it gives good results, is easy to use, and is about 1/2 the price of the H4n.
-
Easy to use, wicked clean on it's recording
-
The battery cover tab/lock broke off, but that hasn't harmed my opinion of it's wonderful sound recording abilities at all.
-
Great quality recording
-
Pros:1) records excellent audio through built in mics2) records excellent audio through all the inputs and is very portable and versatile.3) I love the 4 track ability and the effects built in to the device.
-
I also wanted to test the Zoom H4n, a portable flash recorded I recently purchased
-
Great sound recording quality and overall great value vs quality bargain.
-
While that might be a slight exaggeration, it certainly has enough capabilities to make field or portable recording very easy in an extremely compact device
-
inputsOkay built in fxPretty good sound qualityCons:Very slow startup, can be 30s+ which is enough to miss a recording if in the fieldTerrible battery life (doesn't even last a whole day with 'stamina' mode and 'hold' between takes, D50 will last days being left on and can record for hours straight)Volume
-
just jo make a good recording.
-
Wonderful amazing recording product, and professional one.
-
So if you are a rookie like me, save yourself some heartache and be sure to consider wind noise whenever recording outside
-
Pro got a new physical makeover, and under-the-hood, it now has an improved pre-amp as the H5 and H6 models, capable and suitable of recording loud concerts up to 140db and low "noise floor" for cleaner sound
-
However, overall though, the things you could do (if you're patient and can decipher the manual to learn all the things) with this device is quite amazing - it's truly a portable recording studio right in your hands.
-
great sound recording
-
For amazing live recording with built in mics, I pick the H4n.
-
Being able to record 4 inputs at once makes this the ideal portable recording solution in the field for videographers on a budget
-
H4N is a legendary portable handheld recording studio for musicians and filmmakers that was first introduced in 2009 (I paid $250 for the old one back then, so the price is better for the new one)
-
This is an excellent recorder to complement video recording or use for podcasting.
-
Again, it's the perfect portable stereo recording device.
-
The main display screen shows you everything you need to know, including a reminder when you're paused, in case you forgot whether the red light blinks or stays steady when recording.
-
The recording was superior to a $1000 dollar Yamaha I'd been working with before
-
One button press puts it into record-standby mode (blinking red light), and one more push starts actual recording (solid red light.)
-
Addicting! When recording in MTR mode, you really need to have a pair of headphones to monitor the recordings as you go
-
Audio recording is just as good as the H1N or
