This thing is amazing

I wanted to start a podcast with a co-host which makes USB mics kind of a tricky thing to use

Now speaking of the cons, the only bad thing i found on this item is the battery cover, is a plastic piece, with two small hooks on it, i have already lost one because they are very fragile, if you don't pay attention and forget their existence when you try to put the battery cap on, you might break them, they are thin and tiny

This thing fantastic for its size, quality, options and its price

, so I got one and was blown away at how amazing it is, I love this thing

This thing is so awesome that it doesn't make any sense.

This thing is well worth the money it has 2 built in mics that are very sensitive (in a good way) and clean sounding, aIt also has a headphone jack port in the back to plug in lower end shotgun mics if you don't have an adapter for the main bottom ports

The thing that perplexes me--A LOT--is the lack of any way to make a line-level recording on the H4n

I didn't realize until later on how much cooler this thing is than just a 4 channel mic

I'd heard wonderful things about the Zoom H4N from other podcasters and was excited when mine arrived

This thing is amazing, it never fails to amaze me

In fact, it's the best thing I've bought so far

The one thing we noticed that put a damper on producing great quality videos was lack of amazing audio

The only bad thing I can find to say about it is after a year of very heavy use, I have done all of the field capture for an entire full length movie and dozens of other smaller projects the icons on the 4 main buttons are starting to where off.

So after all the good things I'd read about those two, the H4n had me at hello

It's the best thing after an actual recording studio.

After owning and working with this device for a few weeks there are good and bad things associated with it.

I don't see why this option isn't buried in the menu, i cannot imagine a scenario where you are recording and would need to be switching from mic to line in on the fly while recording is in progress.so in summary this thing isn't a total bust

(and you can tweak each effect to your liking) , This thing is fun

but the thing does feel solid and substantial in your hand

However, overall though, the things you could do (if you're patient and can decipher the manual to learn all the things) with this device is quite amazing - it's truly a portable recording studio right in your hands.

This little thing is great.

It is heavier and larger and that isn't a bad thing

I am not sure how other people use there equipment, but out in the field, things can get rough and a little extra protection can go a long way

Technically, phase issues come into play as well, but you can fake things pretty effectively

Ease of use is important, and I have used other ZOOM equipment in the past (like mini 4-track recorders aimed at musicians and such) and it was often clunky and difficult to use, having to navigate all sorts of weird menus to do the complex things it was capable of.

If you are looking to record just with the built in mics this thing is cheaper, has the same mics.

The other thing I noticed was a lack of bass response

The built in mics are a little exposed without a wire cage on the top like others have, it would probably not be a good thing to drop this unit and have the mics

I also like the little things I'm still discovering, like when I put Ni-MH batteries in and then plugin in the adapter it recharges the batteries.3
