Whether you need an audio recorder for a press conference, school lecture, interview, or video shoot, this Zoom unit always sounds great
-
I would definitely buy a RedHead windscreen for this unit to cut any wind noise, as the attached mics are super sensitive.
-
I hate this unit.
-
The unit doesn't play well with Hosa connectors.
-
Likewise kudos to Amazon, who replaced it quickly - I had the replacement in hand in 2 days, even before I had shipped the failed unit back (free).
-
This is a great unit.
-
This unit may be really great, but I can't tell, because of the almost indecipherable manual
-
The unit has some surprising capabilities for mixing and editing, built in: combining multiple sources, layering tracks, punching in retakes, etc
-
Other units have the problem at BOTH bit depths.
-
It does a great job as a secondary unit.
-
Very, very good unit
-
I don't know if this means my unit was defective, or this will happen to all Zoom H4N's, but this is not acceptable, and poor audio quality, as far as I'm concerned.
-
The unit works great, when you have a working unit
-
I mean if you are OK with Nokia 3210 - this unit is even easier to use
-
I'm sure this unit will deliver the goods in recording ability, but the build quality is sub-par at best
-
Some units work fine at 16 Bit depth but NOT at 24.
-
At ninety nine dollars, it is also a sweet unit when small size and being inconspicuous is important.
-
I have been extremely impressed and I do believe this unit rivals pro audio recording devices costing 10 times more
-
I think there's a difference between a failing unit that's out of warranty and a unit that had a fault to begin with
-
Great unit, easy to operate
-
However, this unit really shines on location for film
-
However, overall the unit is stellar and I highly recommend it
-
I've worked with professional sound equipment and I have to admit that this is one of the best portable units out there
-
I don't imagine them having any revisions or anything, because this unit is really solid
-
Great unit
-
This is a very good unit with nice mikes
-
This unit is so sensitive that when I am recording loud music in a room with a fan going, it will pick the fan up- make sure the fan is turned off
-
I like both this unit and the X-Y microphone configuration it uses
-
Overall, I would highly recommend this unit to anyone wanting a robust and utilitarian portable recorder._________________________________I have had this unit for 2 years
-
Started with the H4, very nice, simple unit, then upgraded to the H4n when it came out.
-
So perhaps a minor thing, but irritating because at first I thought I had a defective unit.
-
This is a great unit
-
After a few weeks of back-and-forth with Zoom's customer support team -- including a return-and-replace -- I was told that the unit is not compatible with USB 3.0 ports and that I would have to transfer files using a card reader
-
I contacted Zoom's tech support about the H2 and was told that I likely had a defective unit.
-
I wonder if I received a defective unit.
-
This unit worked fine as a stand alone for recording a live situation with one track....
-
Alas to be a truly portable independent unit you're stuck using regular or rechargeable AA batteries.
-
The audio was not as good as some units like it, particularly the
-
Likewise kudos to Amazon, who replaced it quickly - I had the replacement in hand in 2 days, even before I had shipped the failed unit back (free).
-
Overall, as with most Zoom products, this unit is a winner and cannot be touched by it's competition in it's price category except for perhaps the Olympus LS11 which is cheaper but the Zoom has a ton more features
-
I thought it was a defective unit until I did some more research.
-
This was after the defective unit was returned
-
I recommend mounting the mike externally or on some sort of a bracket (I use a bracket designed for portable flash units)
-
This unit is wonderful for anyone needing an interface in a home studio
-
I had read other reviews that said Amazon had been given faulty units, so I didn't want to chance replacing the frozen unit with another unit that would freeze a day later
-
Excellent sounding unit - easily usable in a studio or live, and for video shooting
-
The unit is easy to use and is very intuitive
-
great unit
-
Then I decided to try these portable units.
-
I use mine outdoors a lot and the unit has taken a beating and has more than a few scratches, but it's still working just like brand new.
-
and I'm starting to like this unit, more.
-
Nonetheless, I highly recommend this unit
-
For the price you couldn't ask for a more powerful, more versatile unit
-
nice unit.
-
Luckily the unit is easy enough to use that you don't have to rely on the documentation too much
-
This unit is AWESOME!!
-
I love the unit for microphone-level recording: it's great
-
If you are a professional musician with a van who is already hauling a lot of heavy equipment, and want a big hefty unit to use on stage, the Zoom could be just the ticket.
-
I have used other field recorders for ambient nature, and the h4n is definitely a great portable unit.
-
(At this point, because I was still having problems with the software installation, I didn't know whether it was a software problem; whether the card was defective; or whether the unit itself was defective.)
