It's a super cool idea and fun to mess around with, especially when you want to play drums but live in an apartment and have no space and can't be loud.

But I think this system will work as it is for performance

so I have a good idea of what I like/don't like about it

It’s a great idea in itself but this product or the technology itself is not there at all.

I've been stung in the past with new concept products and gadgets that I loved the idea

I can only really recommend Aerodrums if you're willing to commit to them

Aerodrums has greatly exceeded my expectations, and since the amazing duo behind it continue to keep working on it, I'm sure it'll only keep getting better

But I think this system will work as it is for performance

The sound samples sound fantastic and are very velocity sensitive

The sound of these in my recordings rivals some of my friends' home recordings where they have mic'd their own kits, the samples really are that good.

The samples are excellent and the dynamics of the drums is awesome

The sound is great, the samples are realistic enough, and I detect NO latency or delay issues

It could be that I am just not a good enough drummer to be consistent with my hand movements.

Not worth the money imo, go with a real electronic kit if you need something that won't disturb neighbors.

On the second floor even a footpedal for an electric kit would tick off the neighbor downstairs who likes to complain, I am a very loud player and very loud with my feet even with no pedal, so I set a pillow on the floor and work the aerodrum pedals on top of it

so I do not disturb the neighbors.

and I would probably end up selling or returning due to it being too gimmicky, but once you understand how exactly it works and what you have to do to get the most accurate drumming experience (which doesn't take much, just a bit of patience and willingness to reconfigure the drum layout) it can become a great way to create realistic sounding drum tracks

If you want to get real use out of the Aerodrums you can't treat them like the portable drum kit they are marketed as

This invisible kit can be as expressive as a real one once you get the stick technique right, and it has all the MIDI functionality I need as a recording enthusiast

Great if you can't fit a drum kit anywhere and no noise when practising to annoy anyone

To give some background on what I expected from this product, I purchased the Aerodrums because I wanted a realistic drum kit sound to use while doing home recordings.

If you want to get real use out of the Aerodrums you can't treat them like the portable drum kit they are marketed as

This is something I learned fairly quickly, and the program did well to recreate a real, static drum set in this case

This would result in a lot of unintended cross-talk, as well as hitting the wrong drums because I wasn't used to hitting a drum in one spot consistently

It really looks quite cool to see the apparent consistency and presence of the invisible drums

For the price these drums are perfect for the new and the seasoned drummers who don't have room for a practice kit

Also, when hitting the "place all drums" button, there is an overwhelming loud DING sound that is literally twice the volume of any other sound coming from the program

Positive: easy installation, amazing quality sound, very cool to play, light sticks, easy storageNegative: you need to buy a Playstation camera (PS3), difficulty or impossible to play drums on a illuminated room, it needs a laptop, it needs about 1 meter of distance from camera

Lots of variation in velocity, and they have a crystal clear, realistic sound.

The light is bright, but if you play with your laptop to the side, you don't notice it too much

After it arrived, I plugged in the circular LED light and half the lights in the ring would not work

So the whole time your hearing crappy drum sounds, drumming with cables around you, feeling boxed in so the camera reads your hits and with a bright light in your face with paper sunglasses that feel so cheap it makes you wonder where those 199$ really went too, You end up just feeling un inspired, un satisfied and with a slight headache to go with all of it

Even the slightest light in the corner would make the tracking of the sticks completely inaccurate

It works but the light gave me a headache - it's so bright.
