The new stand allows the mic to be set up further away but with better sound quality.

Honestly, the quality is very good - but functionally it needs to have a wider base unless you are using a very small device like a webcam.

The build quality is solid, and it holds up my Samson C01u pro very well.

As for small, portable desktop mic stands go, I really like this one.

With what it took to make this item serviceable It would have been more cost effective and less frustrating to just buy a better mic stand.

This is a great product especially for people who travel a lot & want to do any type of recording on the go.

It basically came all set up, all I had to do was screw the mic on and adjust it to a stable height

I like it very much, it raised the shure sm7b to a perfect hight, it is strong and not wide so it does not take much space in front of you on the desktop.

Based on some of the previous reviews, I was concerned that this little stand wouldn't support the weight of my mic (a Shure SM7B), which is on the heavier side - ~2 lbs

All in all, a great little stand -- light weight; easy to set up, take down, and store; supports my ~2lb mic

Works well for me and has enough weight and stability that it stays in place with a heavier mic mounted and on a standing desk which can be a bit 'bouncy' at times

The base is not wide enough to stabilize the offset weight
