I won't buy an ipod once this one dies unless they do add the features I have on my iriver and dump the proprietary itunes...and never would have bought this in the first place for those same reasons.

Bottom line: if you want the BEST music player - go with the ipodif you want a mediocre music player with extra bells and whistles - go with the zuneif you want a video player - get a portable media center

Personally, since I also own a Nano that is flash drive-based, this hard drive Ipod features gears inside one can hear churning occasionally, which can sound disheartening because you don't know if that's good or bad (trust me, I'm positive everyone else knows about this sound when you press Play as well).
