The optics are as good as any review you have read - it may be the best lens Canon ever produced.
I have used the best canon, Nikon, and zeiss wide angles and this lens is hands down the best resolving, distortionless wide angle lens I have ever used.
This is the sharpest lens canon makes, at any focal length, so far.

So far, it has taught me a lot by forcing me to go back to apply basic photographic skills in order to get good shots
Got so many cool shots with it
Otherwise a great lens for easy panoramas and large-pixel frames, for fixing skew in architecture shots, for fully focused landscape shots with in-focus foreground, for changing depth of field orientation in artistic shots, and of course the miniature shots (if that's your thing).

It helped to spend some time refreshing my memory about how to use tilts and shifts but aside from that, there was nothing mysterious about this lens other than the magical quality it possesses for producing sharp, colorful images that can be free of converging lines or offer incredible field of focus control

It's indispensable because the shift ability retains image quality fidelity where you would normally have to distort the image in editing software, and for high paying clients on enlargement sized prints, that is unacceptable
Functions superbly, lay-people who have seen images of buildings sans converging verticals, can't quite figure out why there's a difference but they all appreciate the images
After years of missing large format cameras with their swings and tilts, and of course their wonderful large film size that together produce incredible images, I think I have found something that will lessen my longing
The lens overall is very sharp and provides an excellent image quality
Usual L quality - beefy, precise, and consistent behavior for all controls! Not a bargain
