Reviews around finish (5.00 of 5)

  • I like the semigloss finish too.
  • I also liked the thin satin finish.
  • The satin finish on the bass is fantastic

Reviews around tone (5.00 of 5)

  • Great tone, nice strings, very smooth
  • The price justify's the small amount of work involved, A better pickup might be desired but all in all a fairly even output across the strings and decent tone.
  • Despite poor packing for shipping (store display cardboard box with no outer shipping container box, the guitar narrowly escaped any damage (the box did not).Mahogany back and sides and large body provide a large acoustic tone, and passive electronics provide boost without distortion

Reviews around preamp (5.00 of 5)

  • To amplify, buy a preamp peddle to boost the piezo bridge pickup before you go into your bass amp or sound board, ... it needs the extra boost.
  • BUT....does not have a proper preamp for Acoustic-Electric.
  • I have a nice Fishman preamp

Reviews around neck (5.00 of 5)

  • Sure, the neck could stand to be straightened a little, but the tool is included with the bass
  • Remove the manufacturers strings, and clean the neck with a plain, dust free cloth
  • I ordered a replacement and it came hassle free with a good neck this time

  • I would highly recommend this product even if it is only to be used as an acoustic.
  • Grandson was extremely pleased with the Dean Acoustic guitar that I purchased for him at Christmas - was exactly what he wanted - great product

Reviews around price (5.00 of 5)

  • I have two other 4 string acoustic basses but bought this one because of the 5 strings, positive reviews, and excellent price.

Reviews around wood (5.00 of 5)

  • Solid wood probably sounds a little better, but for $200 you are'nt getting anywhere close to solid woods for that price

Reviews around pickup (3.75 of 5)

  • To amplify, buy a preamp peddle to boost the piezo bridge pickup before you go into your bass amp or sound board, ... it needs the extra boost.
  • The fact that it is a passive pickup means no hassle with batteries
  • The pickup works fine and sounds very much like the bass acoustically.
  • The price justify's the small amount of work involved, A better pickup might be desired but all in all a fairly even output across the strings and decent tone.

Reviews around bass (3.61 of 5)

  • They sent the wrong bass
  • This is a great acoustic bass, but not out of the box by itself
  • I expected the low B to be either weak in volume or "boomy", but the bass actually has a very strong and balanced sound across all 5 strings

Reviews around sound (3.22 of 5)

  • 1 star for fit and finishSound: The sound actually isn't that bad
  • I EXPECTED LOUDER ACOUSTIC SOUND FROM SUCH A LARGE BODY
  • It has a really nice sound and I can't believe how loud it is even with the b string
  • I think a thinner finish contributes to a better sound, as the top can vibrate more freely.
  • I still didn't have the time to connect it to the amplifier, but the bass has a very good sound even without any amplifier (clearly it the sound is reducing going low freqs)

Reviews around string (3.22 of 5)

  • I strongly recommend light bronze strings, and I purchased a set of D'Addario EPBB170-5 Phosphor Bronze 5-String Acoustic Bass Strings, Long Scale, 45-130 from Amazon
  • The Bass has a good fret board playability, but sound is uneven from low strings to the high strings (volume is loud on E,A strings and soft on D,G strings).
  • I wiped the instrument down with a product I have been using for my instruments; cleaned the strings real well and it plays good.
  • First of all, like most stock guitars and basses right from the manufacturer, the strings it comes with are terrible
  • I also broke my fifth string immediately the first day, so there's that, if you were considering the differences between the four of five string versions, if you break a string, there isn't any.

Reviews around guitar (3.04 of 5)

  • Of course it's not the best quality bass out there, but for the range of quality and price that it is, you couldn't find a better guitar
  • Despite poor packing for shipping (store display cardboard box with no outer shipping container box, the guitar narrowly escaped any damage (the box did not).Mahogany back and sides and large body provide a large acoustic tone, and passive electronics provide boost without distortion
  • So many people buy guitars online from discount retailers, then complain because they don't play right out of the box like shop adjusted instruments.
  • I was happy to get it and find that it is a pretty nice guitar
  • I got this guitar for my husband (a guitar collector and player) and he loved it!
