  • This key has made getting a consistent sound when tuning my heads so much easier
  • It's by ear and feel (I remember a story about Buddy Rich getting annoyed at a guy for adjusting the wrinkle out of the outer head of his kit because he thought that the wrinkle looked bad, and Buddy said " that WAS the best bass drum sound I've had in a long
  • At least, this is how I used this key and it seems to work for me as my drums sound pretty good
  • Not to mention that it was not rare to have one tom with a nice, full sound, and the one next to it sounding a bit like a plastic trash can
  • My son was able to easily re-torque all of the heads on his kit, and get a better sound from the kit overall.

Reviews around work (5.00 of 5)

  • Did the work Perfect
  • The first lug I do takes maybe 1-2 rotations after which it clicks, seems to be working so far right?
  • That being said, if you do some TLC to your drums and keep things in good working order, this key can save you a ton of time

Reviews around thing (4.42 of 5)

  • If the rods will turn easily then this thing works great
  • Love it, don't always have the time to fine tune and this thing is perfect!
  • One more thing, like another reviewer said, if you have rusty or dirty threads on the tension rods, all bets are off, because it will take more torque to get the same tension on the rods.
  • The best thing about this tool is that you set the number you want, and can tune both heads to this number, then fine tune afterwards if you would like to.
  • I love this thing, it makes tuning/replacing drum heads 100% less stressful

Reviews around head (4.40 of 5)

  • I love this thing, it makes tuning/replacing drum heads 100% less stressful
  • I used Remo BA coated heads on top and BE clear heads on bottom (planning to switch bottom heads to BA coated as well). For the price, I definitely think this is worth the money, assuming it continues to work for me long term, which I expect it will.
  • I recently bought my son a nice new PDP drum kit and I wanted to make sure he had a good head tuner
  • As we all know, the head-to-bearing edge tension really dictates the tone of the drum NOT the lug tension
  • The best thing about this tool is that you set the number you want, and can tune both heads to this number, then fine tune afterwards if you would like to.

Reviews around torque (4.30 of 5)

  • This tool is intended to give consistent torque across all lugs.
  • Easy to use and I like the ability to set the torque adjustment for accurate torque.
  • Gets your drum head lugs really really close if not perfect from one another.really easy to use and fast.wrote down all the number torque settings n done .now let's play drums
  • Basically it's an arbitrary benchmark you can use to get a consistent torque for each bolt on the head
  • Also, there are about 4 clicks in between each number so you can really fine tune the torque that you want.

Reviews around product (4.26 of 5)

  • At first i thought the product was damaged, but i soon realized that you need to adjust the torque dial all the way up to 8 in order for the key to show some resistance
  • In summary, I like this product and use it nearly every time I tune.
  • The torque key seems to be very well made......good price for a good product.
  • Some tuning tips or something would have been nice, but it's a solid product that has really simplified what was once a frustrating process for me
  • Love this product and prefer it over all other tuning products mostly for its simplicity, price, and ease of use.

Reviews around key (3.86 of 5)

  • This key is great for all intents and purposes and tunes each lug to the same tightness every time
  • Also, you might still need a regular drumkey for fine tuning - and for the hardware: this key is not supposed to mess around with tom holders and cymbal stands!
  • Still works as a normal drum key though.- Currently a Percussion Major
  • To Go, Hopefully I Get To Use This Torque Evans Drum Key & Didn't Get A Defective Key,
  • If you want to tune each tension rod to the same torque this key is very useful

Reviews around drum (3.61 of 5)

  • Now, on a cheaper quality drum, the lug screws tend to be riddled with burrs and imperfections
  • I love this thing, it makes tuning/replacing drum heads 100% less stressful
  • You still have to methodically go around the drum and tune the lugs in "star order", but the end results are a proper sounding drum ... despite not knowing what i'm doing
  • I use to worry that my drum heads were slightly uneven, but with this torque key I know my drums are absolutely perfect all the way around
  • With new heads, remo rings and this key, your drums will sound great!
