(I used the pointed end of a meat thermometer to poke the hole, it was then simple to slip the wire ring through)It not only helps keep the remote from slipping into the couch cushion, but when the remote somehow ends up in a basket of folded bath towels, it's easier to locate.(I prefer this method over Tile stickers, which I couldn't get between the remote and the cover).Be creative

A simple keyring would work just fine with this cover and be less problematic than the braided wire loop.

I haven't tested the bluetooth range with or without the sleeve, but in my house it still works just fine.
