This kit was the perfect size for my 8 year old, and he's thoroughly enjoying them.
I ended up putting the bass drum together three times: first i had used the wrong size tension rods and didnt realize until i got to assembling one of the Toms, then I had all these washers when i was done with all the drums and realized they should have gone on those tension rods
It is the perfect size for me (5'0) and the sound is great
My grandson love this, however a few of the screws were missing
If you thrash and abuse them, they will break as with anything else
Our grandson and seven year old granddaughter are delighted with the opportunity to "bang the drums" and "clash the cymbals".
I guess it's not that big of a deal, just a hassle, but it was a cheap-o part that was bound to break, most companies would just send the thing and not worry about $6.

As a parent, the instructions could be better, other than that, great product
That's like buying furniture that needs assembling, doing a terrible job of putting it together without reading the instructions, then complaining that it doesn't look good and blaming the product
bass drum striking surface was warped when it arrived-box was too small for the product and things were jammed in, requiring my daughter to bend metal, etc. to put it together.

We bought this set for or 5 year old son and he loves it
My son got the drum set for his 8th Birthday and absolutely loved it
Otherwise the set is great, holding up to lots of playing morning and night, and my son would be lost without it.
My son broke a drum stick within two weeks (which I understand is normal for avid drummers), broke the spring on the bass drum pedal within three weeks (currently replaced with a rubber band), and the crash cymbal is starting to look like the shape of a ladies' floppy hat.

I do wish the cymbals, hihat stand, and kick pedal were a bit better quality, but didn't expect much for the price.
The lettering did smear a bit when my son first started playing with the set
the hi-hat stand does the job well, albeit a bit of a sloppypedal feel, same for the bass pedal: replace it
His parents had to wrap the ends of the drumsticks with something to dampen the noise a bit, and they are not happy with me because these drums are the real deal--- they will be

The quality is really good for a starting kit for kids; I am extremely happy with the customer support: We lost a small piece that holds the cymbals and I wrote Gammon
Other than making sure you are putting the right pieces where, it is amazing quality
So basically one piece is not usable of the 2 top rums.

I had somehow lost a bolt for a Tom and the company sent me a new one free of charge and quick
but it broke already the little bolts on the end popped right off
I thought they were going to be awful to put together.. the small, heavy box was intimidating
The box was beat so bad I'm surprised that it didn't fall apart

it got here in good timing and is exactly what is shown above, how ever the parts were thrown through out the box making putting it together a serious pain.
