You have to stomp to get any usable sound and by then you'll be hearing mostly the sound of it topping out on the up stroke..not a useful effect.
I use it predominately on my hi-hat and it gives a real nice accent to stick strokes and offers differing effects with closed/open hats or even if striking the actual metal ring
but I am genuinely surprised at what a complimentary effect it had on the hats
This tambourine adds a nice jingle to your hihat hits and is very sensitive, but if you play at lower volumes, the sound of the tambourine can overpower the actual hihat
Also adds a nice jingle to your hi-hat stomp if you go hard enough.

The jingles don't stay in place too well, and the jingles don't sing or cut the way I would have expected.
