The kids use them around the house, but also work in the field.
Inexpensive, lightweight, small... and the kids really liked them.
These worked great at Disney, so we could give each kid one and be able to reach them in case we got separated, or when we split up for different rides.
Good quality, but clip is very hard to remove to replace batteries.

I will keep it as backup means of communication but for anyone looking for some very reliable way of communicating besides cell phones I would suggest to keep looking.
These don't really innovate in any meaningful way, but they're compact, have great battery life and work fairly seamlessly.
In fact, they are very serviceable, very affordable two-way radios where nothing more than basic two-way communication is needed
