Reviews around focus (5.00 of 5)

  • My favorite things bout the D5 are it's incredibly fast and accurate auto focus, and it's high iso performance
  • The improved focussing, ... all make it the go to (semi-) pro Nikon camera.
  • I find that at those ISOs, you need to add +17% noise reduction luminance to hide the grain (noise).Spectacular fast focus
  • I love to be able to pinch and zoom and slide around while zoomed to make sure no one was blinking, or double check that yes in fact the D5 did get perfect focus AGAIN
  • Very solid focusing performance, great dynamic range and very fast

  • with incredible results
  • While I recommend against handheld panos for stitching, the leveling display in the viewfinder has given me great results for landscapes and scenics
  • and I expect outstanding results due to its autofocus capabilities

  • This camera is so much smarter than the operator that it will be years before all the cool things are figured out and used.

Reviews around quality (4.16 of 5)

  • So far, the CF version has worked extremely fast and provides extreme low light shots with excellent quality.
  • The camera is a thing of beauty, or at least stunning presence and quality.
  • The quality of images are beautiful, Colors are amazing
  • The high ISO quality has been improved and even a minor improvement (combined with more resolution) is impressive
  • Still, incredible photo quality achieved - this is a camera for the professional.

Reviews around iso (4.03 of 5)

  • This camera can shoot indoors without a flash at a reasonable ISO without significant noise in the images
  • Which leads me to the next point - Nikon has touted this camera as its low light king, capable of performing at ridiculous ISO ranges that, quite frankly, most will never use
  • I bought this camera for many reasons, the incredible high native ISO of 102,400, sensor resolution of 20.8 Million, 153-point auto focus points, and numerous other strengths
  • Superior high-ISO image qualityWith the nightclubs I shoot in getting increasingly dark, I really wanted a better high ISO camera than the D4 that I still own.
  • What I notice, however, is that while I frequently needed to bump up exposure in post with the D4, I have not had to do this with the D5 at all thanks to its superior high ISO ability.

Reviews around d5 (3.89 of 5)

  • I will say that the D5 is no earth shaking upgrade from a 4s.
  • I find D3s, D810 and D5 are all phenomenal up to about ISO 1600.
  • The D5 has solved this problem; the new positions are much easier to use.
  • Ergonomically, the D5 is extremely comfortable to wield, despite its size
  • the D3s is not usable after 25600 IMO other than B&W, though the D5 if scaled down to 8mp or 10mp is usable in color at ISO 102,400 or instagram photos at 204,800.

Reviews around image (3.86 of 5)

  • Superior high-ISO image qualityWith the nightclubs I shoot in getting increasingly dark, I really wanted a better high ISO camera than the D4 that I still own.
  • I do add some noice reduction at 12800 and beyond, but hardly any and never enough to degrade the image.
  • Low ISO to very high ISO are very much useable images, I am a wedding and
  • It speeds up my AF point selection, and anything that allows me to get the image faster is good in my book
  • Along those lines, I'd forgotten how nice image scrubbing is on the Canon side, and scrubbing on the D5 with the touchscreen is a dream

Reviews around noise (3.86 of 5)

  • It was time for a change, especially since my D4 has gone through 475,000 plus shutter actuations, with a shutter rated for 400,000.So how did it do?The D4 would shoot at ISO 6400 with very little visible noise, and 12,800 with significant noise that was still acceptable to me.
  • If yu are looking for the clean shadow noise of your D3 at ISO 200 to 1600, this is not your camera.
  • This camera can shoot indoors without a flash at a reasonable ISO without significant noise in the images
  • I did shoot part of an Indy race with it, but after testing more images in Lightroom and seeing the unacceptable noise in shadows at low ISO’s I had to send the camera back
