Suzuki SCX-48 Chromatix Series Harmonica C 12 Hole - 2024 report by Whydis
Suzuki SCX-48 Chromatix Series Harmonica C 12 Hole
Color:C
The Suzuki SCX Chromatix Harmonica surely qualifies as one of the most luxurious harmonicas you can buy. Gorgeous to look at, substantial to hold, and a pleasure to play, the Chromatix harmonica is are comfortable and completely airtight. S...
The same covers are used as on the 270, which makes it feel less "solid" overall than the Super 64, but also identical to hold as the 270
When I picked it up and put it to my mouth, I immediately felt that this was a Super 64 (but with only 12 holes, not 16 of course), and a much higher quality instrument than the 270 in terms of construction
The Super 64 has a much more solid feel to it compared to the Super Chromonica
But the sound is higher quality than the 270 I feel, more comparable to the Super 64
The Super 64 and the Super Chromonica deluxe also respond well in holes 11 or 12, and I would say the quality of sound is comparable to these two
I have Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica also, but this one is superior product then Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica.
by being sure I warm it up each time, I can manage to use it OK.It's a shame because both of these harmonicas have an excellent tone and the slide works very well

The Suzuki SCX-48 is a beautiful instrument with a nice round tone, comfortable mouthpiece, and more modern construction than its market dominating competitor, the Hohner 270 Super Chromonica.
I have Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica also, but this one is superior product then Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica.
Crisp tone, nice slide action, beautiful to hold and behold

I'm just getting used to round versus square holes, the slide is very smooth when pressed- no troubles there.
The slide is practically noiseless...a great value for the money...for real
The slide is reasonably quiet and the whole thing is pretty air tight
(I used the Super Chromonica Deluxe in a show this summer, and will be using my Suzuki in a show this coming Friday), but given the price difference, I still feel confident that this harp is a great value, and it is a quality instrument, so I do not hesitate to recommend it
I have Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica also, but this one is superior product then Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica.
I own the Sirius too, and I find the SCX a better value for the dollar

Chromatic Harmonicas, one key to a Great playing Instrument is to Warm it this is very Important, to get a rich tone out of it and should be done often or as the instrument cools off because the sound starts to degrade as the instrument gets cold
This is by far the best chromatic harmonica I have played.
In short, this has to be the most comfortable mouthpiece I have ever played
On occasion I have failed to get a reed playing well in these locations, but warming the harmonica has helped
This is a very serious and well playing instrument and stands apart from my other collection of chromatics under $200 unit price
I have Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica also, but this one is superior product then Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica.

The phosphor-bronze reeds are essentially problem-free, (which I'm sorry, but is not true for brass reeds which always seem to be fatiguing and breaking) and the instrument has fewer breath saver problems too, especially if you warm your instrument a bit with body heat for 10 minutes before you play

I think it is important to compare these Hohners with the Suzuki, since you are likely considering the Super Chromonica, which is by and large the most purchased Chromonica given its long history and relatively inexpensive price (also assuming 12 holes are a must, and pretty much, 12 holes is the choice most players will make)
So, my first impression is "I just bought a Super 64/Super Chromonica Deluxe quality harp with 12 holes, for the much less expensive price of a Super Chromonica 270

And the fourth or fifth hole changes pitch when I blow into it.
It feels like a 12 hole Super 64, and has attributes of its construction that make it more solid, probably more airtight, and more comfortable to play than the Super Chromonica Deluxe, but about $50 dollars less expensive
But with a better mouthpiece (round holes like the Super 64, but a bigger area to plant the lips)
I have Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica also, but this one is superior product then Hohner 270BX-E Super Chromonica.
I have owned 270s which were very difficult to play holes 11 and 12 on (though good technique is and important factor here, so you can't always blame the harmonica)
The only thing I don't like is the valves stick if the harmonica is cool and you can't play it until it warms up enough to dry up the condensation.
When I unpacked and warmed the harmonica in my hands then tried to play I could hear the windsavers clicking which made me a little nervous that they would be a problem.
Unless this particular harmonica is the only rotten apple in the barrel I do not recommend the Suzuki Chromatic Harmonica.
I own a set of cheap harmonicas in each key, and I discovered that the key of G sounds the lowest
The instrument has a loud, clear sound and is well tuned
I have the Super Chromonica 64 and think it has a great sound and good for bending notes but have not tried their keys seems like a different looking harmonica their key version
The instrument has a loud, clear sound and is well tuned
but it is notably tougher to get smooth clear sounds from
Even after getting it warmed using hot pack, the sound becomes strange after a few blows in mild to cold temperature.
