  • Id recommend this product to whoever needs any math college course.
  • I guess this product must be ideal for older people and for professionals
  • And many of the reviews here comment on what an affordable product this is(?).
  • updates? This is a good product, in that it's a very useful graphing calculator that does what it's supposed to do, and does it well.

Reviews around tool (5.00 of 5)

  • My high school normally gives out 85's for students to use during the year, but I found that the Table function makes the 86 a much more valuable tool than the 85.
  • With the right software, the TI-89 is a very powerful math tool
  • Of course, once you have mastered the math with your own brain, the calculator should be an indispensible tool
  • This calculator is generally used in the engineering field, and the learning curve is slightly steeper than the recommended TI83, but I personally prefer this tool in my studies.

  • It has good calculus abilities, and excellent graphing features.
  • updates? This is a good product, in that it's a very useful graphing calculator that does what it's supposed to do, and does it well.
  • Everyone else in my Calculus3 class had TI-84's with different, more "user-friendly" graphing and programming capability, but I loved the details available on the TI-86.
  • My TI-86 is twelve years old, and it is the greatest graphing calculator ever made

  • I used to own an early HP back in the 80's and it never stopped working for at least 6 or seven years until it was stolen out of my backpack
  • Product shipped in time and is in good working condition
  • It is very well built, the features are clear and easy to learn and even after being dropped more than its fare share, this calculator for the last year has worked flawlessly.
  • It comes most handy when working in 3D. However, the interface is hard to work with and can take too much time
  • Received the TI-86 within a week in good working condition!

Reviews around price (3.75 of 5)

  • When it broke I
  • Bought it for High School Student, and I can not believe the price is not cheaper than smart phone which can accomplish the same calculator functionality or better.
  • Chinese knock-offs?I would like to get the windows cable, but until I get an A/C adapter that works, I don't dare spend any more on it

  • and I lost the first line of the LCD because I dropped it in college
  • Several horizontal lines of pixels on the screen do not work.
  • Bottom line, this has more than fulfilled all my needs, and I doubt I have used more than 50% of all the available features this thing is capable of
  • All factors added up to a great bottom line.

  • It worked great the first year, but just started eating batteries and died.
  • We didn't have cheap NiMH batteries back in the day - TI actually pushed the use of Rayovac Renewals (remember those rechargeable alkalines that only lasted 5 charges?

Reviews around number (1.00 of 5)

  • For example, there isn't an a+bi mode(for complex and imaginary numbers), it doesn't have APPS, and usefull features like the absolute value button are hidden beneath tons of subfolders
  • I consider this to be a bug for a calculator that can correctly handle even complex numbers in other circumstances
  • perfectly! Its has a robust feature set, including matrix operations, unit conversion, stats, complex numbers, polynomial solvers, support for hex/binary, and more
  • I have been using a TI-86 since 1998 and liked it until yesterday when I discovered it did not correctly convert temperatures expressed as negative numbers either in degrees F or
