This is a good quality carabiner that locks to the unit.
It's too bad because it is sturdy and the carabiner itself is fairly decent quality, but for me the only way it would be really useful is if it the carabiner hung off toward the bottom of the device.
This is a good quality Garmin product and functions as expected.
The carabiner is of good quality and allows for easy use to attach your GPSr to a beltloop, backpack, harness, etc
it holds firmly, and the carabineer clip is good quality, and the connection to the etrex held very tightly through dense foliage, and scrambling up boulders in RMNP

not necessary -- but thought it would be a nice addition to help hold the Garmin & not loose it.
while it *should* be a great addition, it positions the unit upside down for anything you might actually want to use it for.
Great addition to my Etrex 20, just clip on and go, worth the extra $$$ for the convenience.

Couldn't find an easy way to connect this to my backpack and this works great.
This clip works great while hiking as an easy way to keep the GPS close at hand and secure
But, this product hangs the GPSr the wrong way in my opinion,
Has an integrated belt clip, so you can use it that way as well.
If you are wanting a sturdy way to clip your Garmin to something then this works

I prefer a neck lanyard when I am canoeing, but I like the carabiner clip sometimes when I'm hiking or backpacking
The Carabiner clip is so tight that it will not slide all the way up, failing to lock in place
I highly recommend the carabiner clip if you are using body armor and gear.

I guess these are all made different I ordered one in the past and it fit perfect but my other Garmin and clip got destroyed on
After using it and going through the woods I have no fear of losing my portable Garmin with this clip.
Let's me use my Garmin and not worry about getting it back in the pouch.
Garmin did their best to make it impossible to attach a carabiner or anything else to their Dakota series
It's not Garmin's fault for that, but having a belt clip would give me more options.

its nice to not have to put our gps in our pocket or worry about it falling or us dropping it!
I can also easily remove the clip while so secured and move the GPS around the length of the lanyard for easier use in viewing like when we are driving in the car.
You could also forgo this and use plastic coated metal fishing leader to secure the GPS to a caribiner.
Feel better with this clip for peace of mind in not losing my GPS.
If you use it, at least secure the GPS to it through the lanyard loop
