I highly recommend this tool for anyone driving in Europe who is not familiar with the roads.
Because I knew I had it, I neglected to get a proper driving map, but will get one next time.

Amazing customer service: the Garmin hep desk guy got out his own Garmin device and searched for the locations i was visiting to make sure erred be covered with this map

A very patient Garmin Tech Support person talked me through the process of downloading and installing a Nuvi firmware update (which also required downloading and updating a Microsoft program in order to proceed), and now everything works as it should.

Just came back from a 15 day road trip to Italy (Amalfi Coast, Umbria, Tuscany), and this GPS card worked great
I heard other complaints on some of the chips for Garmin europe and I was confused on the differences, but as a heavy user of a Garmin for work I can say that these maps worked just as well as in the US
In summary, I found the Garmin to work exactly as it had in the US.
I tried to contact Garmin tech support from Europe, but could not reach them
Garmin tech support will act as if the cards are "bad" (they will ask where you bought them), even thought they obviously are brand new and sealed into Garmin packages.
So far, I am not impressed with the unit or with Garmin tech support
I intend to follow-up with Garmin tech support if I an able to reach them.

The only minor issue that was a bit entertaining was the pronunciation of the Italian streets.

Was excellent at directing us though crazy roads and routes in cities for the most part- especially all the roundabouts..
The alternative routing helps get around closed, blocked, or otherwise objectionable roads or traffic

The problem was that it had a hard time to find a location in another country when you were only 20 miles away
Even the speed limit reporting and traffic receiver worked with the European sources.
If you pay attention to the speed limit signs on the road signs and use the guidance of this software, you should be able to navigate the country successfully
