To cut myself off, I really think H/K stepped up the innovation when designing the Aura and created a product that creates excellent sound, which alone is well worth the price tag
The design of it actually makes it hard to hold unless you get an arm under the bottom of the unit, which means you will be touching the speaker face itself, and that means you could inadvertently damage it.
The design is outstanding (the LED light is a particularly cool touch) and the sound performance of the HK Aura rivals my Loewe AirSpeaker (which also sounds pretty amazing) - but at half the price with twice the functionality
This "Aura STUDIO" version has the same great design and sound, but connectivity is different
But I would argue that it has an elegant design and absolutely astonishing sound
H/K should probably take a close hard look at their app, but like I said, it is not necessary at all in order to enjoy the Aura
I would not recommend buying this unless you just want an expensive cool looking speaker.
Summary: 4.5The Aura the best compact speaker system I’ve owned, coming in at a pint-size with good looks, great sound, with up-to-date tech capabilities
I would not recommend buying this unless you just want an expensive cool looking speaker.
Great looking and sounding speaker, but the bluetooth pairing mode is ALWAYS on and anyone (including my neighbors) can pair up their device and play music in my room...huge design oversight?

Users are directed to download the optional H/K remote app (not to be confused with Apple’s Remote App mentioned earlier), which is pretty bunk

The source and volume settings are touch sensitive on the side and work nice with a led ring for feedback.

There is an option to customize it's name on the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, as well as I renamed mine
First time Amazon reviewer because: (1) there seems to be a lack of info on the net about this product, and (2) I love this thing
A number of reviewers said the same thing, but yet some of the reviewers talked about connecting it to their network, so thought maybe I would get lucky and get a real Aura
Only thing is that i dont like the round shape much.

Even if you got the WiFi-AirPlay enabled speaker, that computer loses its connection constantly, and neither speaker is recommended for purchase under any circumstance.
It is enough as I expect 3rd reply would ask me unplug it to prevent any stranger connection
Note that what is being sold as a "Harman Kardon Aura" is actually a "Harman Kardon Aura Studio," which looks the same but lacks important features such as optical audio connection and certain software controls, and is priced $100 cheaper if that's what you actually want.

This is my reason for choosing it over the Klipsch KMC 3, which is only Bluetooth compatible
Yes, the sound is superior to even the most expensive Bose Bluetooth speaker or Sony SRS X series speakers including the flagship SRS X99.
Airplay is hit or miss at best while bluetooth is more stable
the bluetooth doesnt work time lag, musical instruments are impossible to play through it, the buttons are impossible to find, they take forever to work and function, it sounds good and looks good but needs real buttons.
Practically speaking, from my perspective, that means it is bluetooth enabled, but does not support Apple's Airplay.
The Aura is supposed to have wifi and airplay - this has neither - it is a Harman Kardon Aura STUDIO, which is another item and it is false advertising to call this an Aura
