  • Sure, I wish the amp had some additional features, primarily a built in cross-over or at least a l/r "balance" control like the LH1000 has

Reviews around price (5.00 of 5)

  • the controls are very simple(four knobs, two buttons and a power switch) but the tone and range of this head is amazing.so, to sum up; plenty of power, easy to use/simple design, decent price for a working, intermediate levelmusician like myself
  • Great value and price* Very good tone shaping, surprising considering the simplicity of the controls/
  • Sure, I wish the amp had some additional features, primarily a built in cross-over or at least a l/r "balance" control like the LH1000 has
  • It sounds great, the price is great, I can add another cab to it if I need to, and it's easier to haul around than my peavey tnt 115

Reviews around power (5.00 of 5)

  • Or you bridge both power sections for 1000W of clean power
  • The power this puts out is great, but is very basic and steril (for lack of a better term, and not at all much of a detriment to the amp as tone from the bass is more transparent that way).
  • I was impressed by how solid everything felt when I first powered it up at the house
  • Sure, I wish the amp had some additional features, primarily a built in cross-over or at least a l/r "balance" control like the LH1000 has

Reviews around result (5.00 of 5)

  • Here's the list; no input gain control, the di is pre eq, the single 12ax7 in the pre does not give natural tube warmth (you can get better by changing the tube, I got best results from a groove tube, electro Harmonix gave a slight bit more clarity and brightness over stock).
  • Sure, I wish the amp had some additional features, primarily a built in cross-over or at least a l/r "balance" control like the LH1000 has
  • and I used it to play in a small club with good results, but the tnt weighs a ton.

  • The power this puts out is great, but is very basic and steril (for lack of a better term, and not at all much of a detriment to the amp as tone from the bass is more transparent that way).
  • After years of owning heads and combos that didn't deliver the sound I was looking for, I came across a number of LH1000s and LH500s at various guitar stores and I loved the way they sounded.

Reviews around feature (5.00 of 5)

  • One of the nicest features is that you can run multiple cabinets with it to dial in a particular sound or volume
  • Sure, I wish the amp had some additional features, primarily a built in cross-over or at least a l/r "balance" control like the LH1000 has
  • To be able to run stereo at 500w per channel is an amazing feature that is not commonly found in a bass amp

Reviews around state (5.00 of 5)

  • For an amp that's got a single tube and the rest is solid state, this is a heavy head.
  • The tube pre-amp does not sound too different from the solid state Ampeg PF500

Reviews around system (5.00 of 5)

  • Pretty much a house shaking 1000 watt monster when paired with a good speaker system.
  • It takes pedals well, is built like a tank, has an over-engineered cooling system and the dual-power amp system makes it versatile

Reviews around bass (3.86 of 5)

  • It has zero problem delivering a clean, warm low B from my 5 string.
  • It has zero problem delivering a clean, warm low B from my 5 string.
  • For $349 new = totally SOLID, POWERFUL, QUALITY, BASS HEAD.
  • I would describe this amp as being good in providing lots of headroom for a clean bass sound.

Reviews around tone (3.22 of 5)

  • This amp just bleeds tone, you can't make it sound bad
  • The power this puts out is great, but is very basic and steril (for lack of a better term, and not at all much of a detriment to the amp as tone from the bass is more transparent that way).
  • I set the LH1000 "flat" (2 10 2), made a few small adjustments and there it was: amazing tone
  • I tend to be a compulsive knob twiddler, always looking for a better tone
  • You can dial in a variety of good tones but with an added eq or your favorite effects unit I dont see why you wouldn't be able to get whatever sound you are looking for... assuming you have good cabs that are capable of producing good tone and the sound you are after
  • Read remaining 10 reviews for tone

Reviews around output (3.22 of 5)

  • While the BMAX sounds great, I found that when using OD, fuzz or distortion the output of the BMAX would be too hot for power amps, leading to thermal shutdown
  • The pros....this is very simplistic, loud and has plenty of output versatility (which I miss).
  • Some people don't like this head because you won't get an artificially buffed up sound like you get with many others, this is purely clean output, everything else is on your pedals, sometimes I even use it to amp the voices when rehearsing
