no matter what style music you are into its a great tool for composing exactly what you want, I havent used it in a live situation yet, but it has been a great tool in my studio.
This is a GREAT tool for a creative mind; This sampler is on the top of my list.

And this is why in my opinion many of the classic music beat-boxes, samplers, and hardware still sell for top dollar on the used market even though an average computer running software like
As others have noted there is software available for the Microsampler's USB connection from Korg's website, haven't had a chance to install it yet, but from videos I've watched it seems pretty straightforward to transfer samples from your PC or MAC (but they get converted from 44 Khz to 48
Hardware samplers are not as popular as software samplers, probably because the flexibility of software is substantially superior to the hardware option.

etc.(I personally enjoy the many dedicated knobs available on the Electribes.)I sense that the MicroSampler is designed for spontaneous live use* and performance, and for that it seems to be quite well suited... will report back soon.*you can even sample WHILE you are playing!
I'm leaving it at 5 stars because honestly this is by far the best sounding phrase sampler i have ever used, i just think it could have been called the microphrase instead though, the keyboard just teases us old farts.
I really struggled to get samples to sound decent on it, this is because most soft samplers use varying formats, and most stuff i attempted to load was 44khz, once i stopped using anything

The microsampler was cute, light and compact, but it didn't do what I needed it to do
Sorry for the Children's Story [Explicit] reference, but as someone who was in high school age during the days of the old Ensoniq ASR -10 and Emu ESI 32, when you were happy to be able to have a sampler with 2 MB of memory and could sample at an impressive 44.1 khz at 16 bit all for about $2500 to $3500 dollars not including scsi and memory upgrades (and sometimes without built in sound fx), this Microsampler is impressive

There are also some additional free music banks for the Microsampler from the website, including an instrument collection with piano and other sounds, sounds promising

Ok, so this is probably the biggest mess up in my opinion, honestly, it is making me reconsider whether i want to keep it or not, without this feature you can't really play any complex endless pads, or strings, or other things of that nature, they REALLY should have included this, you could get around the lack of ADSR if you just had proper looping points
This is definitely a strong point, i believe there is user videos on youtube showing off these capabilities.3

Not having a proper envelope (their is zero attack options, only decay and release, and they only work when your not looping!), or loop star/end capabilities, no the ability to multi-sample (i know multi is alot to ask for, but i might as well bring it up, this is 2012, right?

But if you were intending to use it as a phrase sampler, i would definitely go for it, considering it has all the typical features of a phrase sampler but with the addition of a very limited keyboard setup and higher audio quality, if phrase was your priority, then the keyboard is just a nice bonus

I love this keyboard, the keys are responsive and the sampling quality is great
you want a super complicated "studio keyboard" with controls for everything, get a Triton
