all of the knobs turn nicely, and the pads are actually usable and easy to customize... the mod wheel and pitch wheel feel great and have nice resistance..
The pads are responsive, velocity sensitive and also extremely fun to play
For those considering a budget option but not sure whether a board like this is worth it, the keys, the pads, and the knobs/faders are significant improvements over budget alternatives
the pads, knobs, sliders and botton all feel like quality
Key's are superb (almost on par with my 1300$ electric piano), and the pads are extremely responsive

Great build quality, I've had it for over a year, and haven't had a single issue with it
All the controls feel very solid and high quality, adding to the illusion that you are really going to make this mix sound like Dre
after feeling the quality of these keys and the consistency of the velocity in my DAW, I decided quality was more important than type (semi-weighted vs. synth).Along the same vein are the rotary encoders (dials) and the sliders -- both have an excellent feel to them and are a clear cut above every other brand I tested within a $100 price difference (up and down).This controller also offered a far deeper level of customizability than others I tested out

You will notice that anything other than 5 star reviews were related to issues due to shipping or downloading free software provided with the keyboard
All though I absolutely love the sound kits and software for my Maschine, I have never been able to play the drum pads quite like I can on Akai products

I won't highlight why the keyboard is good because the upsides have already been covered by other reviewers and I agree that generally this is a well built device
It is solid built, Faders, knobs and Pads are very very nice.
The MPK249 is extremely well built and functions very well

All though I absolutely love the sound kits and software for my Maschine, I have never been able to play the drum pads quite like I can on Akai products
Also, if you want your finger drumming to sound like playing a kit, 4 banks of 16 pads is a killer feature
It's a great starter kit for those who are interested in building a home studio.

The pads have a nice clean touch to them and they aren't as stiff as some of their other previous pad designs

I actually liked the feel of the old pads on an MPK, but this is a nice emprovement
Only the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol had a better feel, and Novation Impulse was comparable

Seems like a nice keyboard, but website has been down all day...
.. keyboard feels just as solid and integrates much better into software
Overall it's not a bad keyboard, but the keybed feel isn't as nice as I would have expected for the price, and I took two stars off for a *glaring* oversight
The keyboard has nice resistance which is especially handy for capturing low velocity performances
it cost a lot more than my new Akia and it was a great beginners keyboard
