It works like compressors are supposed to work and at a good price.

Great little unit, nicely priced, high quality, well packaged works like a charm.

Read a lot about compressors before getting it and found this one as a mid price / excelent quality pedal

The MXR dyna comp does everything you expect from a compressor pedal for a great price.

I was tempted by the MXR Super Comp (which has attack control) but heard that it has distortion issues

The MXR was more dynamic and gave much better sustain - the Line6 emulation also had too hard an attack

The other ones are more transparent and don't color your sound quite as much, but I still like the MXR the best.

I then dialed in some basic amp models into the POD X3 and the MXR sounded even better, vastly improving the models of the AC30 and Plexi

It makes me sound loads better and I love the clean compression

Depending on how important compression is to your setup, it may be worth getting.

Increases sustain and adds a soaring Gilmoresque tonality that makes for great soloing.

It you want a good clean solo it works great.

I use this with a Gibson Les Paul, and Washburn Hollowbody through a Fender Super Champ amp along with other pedals.

This compressor gives a lot of sustain, i use this with a PRS SE NICK CATANESE with mics emg-81/85 and a FENDER AMERICAN STANDARD STRATOCASTER and works perfect, adds punch to my clean tone and gain tones also, its essencial in my pedalboard, 100% recommended!

It works okay as a clean boost, but it shines with the Sensitivity at about 3 o'clock

The pedal seems to interact with a wah in good ways also

Another great way to use this pedal is to achieve a nice analog compressed lead tone, similar to Greg Howe's older tones from the early 90s

With slide, it adds a nice, glassy sustain, though the Bent Soundlabs modded Boss

Kind of bland and lacking decent sustain

90% of the time you'll have the knobs kind of "knock kneed" with the Level up high and the sustain somewhere near 9 o'clock

I recently spent 200 bucks on a Wampler Ego Compressor and while it's true the Wampler is better for adding sustain while keeping the natural tone of your guitar, there are times I still prefer the massive chimey sustain and clean overdrive I get with the Dyna Comp

The tone I look for always with compressors is the Gilmour Shine on , 5 am type attack and sustain.

'didn't do it for me,, it crushed the tone unless you really pushed it onthe volume

This pedal helps my little tube amp "gain" that little something extra.

Controls:The Dyna Comp has 2 controls, Output (volume) and Sensitivity (compression amount) - I set the Output so that it was the same as the max output of my POD X3 - the MXR Output matched the POD at about 75% (meaning the pedal can give you a significant volume boost if used in front of an amp.

This pedal does not mess with your tone and adds no undesirable noise

With the output at 3/4, and the sensitivity at 50% this pedal gives you the classic chunky funk sound - funk and strummed chords sound amazing through this thing

So many pedals are so hard to read the dials, even if you bend down

For anyone looking to add compression to their pedal board, or get a better compressor, go ahead and get this one

a Keeley is a great compressor, but I would choose a dyna over a keeley any day.

I would also suggest keeping this somewhat noisy compressor out of the effects loop

I bought into all the hype that it wasn't very good, and that you needed a Wampler, Maxon, or other expensive compressor to really sound good.

Not to be used with dynamic picking sounds because you will lose that louder/softer sound

For the money, not bad.....lacks fine adjustment.... too touchy on volume ....but good basic sound

I don't know if its me, but i cant get any clean sound when this pedal is on, i use this for booster, really sounds good

For those of you who haven't used a compressor, it makes softer sounds louder and louder sounds softer by reducing (aka "compressing") the dynamic range of the instrument
