The added weight of the case and no protection on the bottom increase the chance of damage (the rubber strap across the bottom front is becoming stretched and loose, and no real protection).
Not only does this offer inadequate drop protection on that side, but the thin rubber strip across the bottom eventually begins to stretch and bow ever so slightly after repeatedly tugging on it when pulling your phone out of your pocket or bag (and this is basically unavoidable).Performance-wise, the Commuter does well.
