There's not many zoom lenses that is supported for the micro four-thirds format, the price was good, and I heard good things about this lens, so I grabbed it
The price was very good and I have been very pleased with the lens performance
Given the good reviews and low price - how could one go wrong with this lens?
My impression is they don't have any staff, so they quote ridiculous prices because they can't perform simple repairs
However, the price and availability of this item was too hard to resist, and so it was on my camera (a GF1) when i visited Lake Woodruff Nat'l Wildlife Refuge in Fl
I have been able to get nice sharp images handheld when in good light and it is a nice size and weight to carry as an extra lens.
It has power optical image stabilization (O.I.S.), but there is no switch to turn it off, as there is on the more expensive 12-35 G lens
I took some fine photos of strdavarius violins right off--beautiful, shimmering images.
The image isn't bad but the lens is too slow and it breathes quite noticeably
Most of the unacceptable image are result of high ISO (more than 800), using OIS during panning and low shutter speed (In my opinion, setting it to 1/500sec at Shutter priority for this lens is safe enough for most situations)6.
the sigma 19 and 30mm are smaller, sharper and cheaper but give back a stop of light, but no one would blame you either way.
I've also had the Olympus 25mm f1.8 but did not really like it very much
Wonderfully useful range, if I only take one lens, this is often my choice, though the 14-45mm is pretty handy as well.
Image is not as sharp as the prime 20mm F1.7 or the 14-45mm F3.5-5.6 objectives, but good enough for an amateur like me
Keep in mind that 400mm equivalent f/5.6 can be very difficult to handhold, even with OIS, and at that focal length atmospheric haze can reduce contrast (I have to wonder whether these factors contribute to some peoples' perceptions of softness)
If i had to buy my first lens for the camera i'd probably pick up the 14-140mm vs. this one since with that you don't really have to deal with changing lenses or miss any photos
this lens gives great photos and softens the background.
I've taken some great photos with it, I use it more than the kit lens
It's a HUGE improvement in speed and sound compared to Olympus kit lens that comes with their u4/3 cameras.--I've had problems taking low light photos as it struggles to focus on subjects, especially when zoomed in
However, it doesn't take the sharpest photos even compared to my Oly M. Zuiko EZ kit lens
It's sharp enough for me, only minor gripe is the slow focusing
Manual focusing is easy and pleasant, but I would prefer faster AF performance
But if you have one of the Olympus cameras named above and have noticed that there are very few lenses that these cameras' fast focusing can take advantage of, don't worry, this lens is one that makes the most of Olympus's claimed "world's fastest focus".
I did find that focus was slow at times and hunted a little when at 150 - 200 mm.
And this was my third lens and I am extremely happy with the quality and the fast auto focus it has in 1080p
Given its slow f/4 maximum aperture at the wide end and slower f/5.6 racked out, the ability to use some slow shutter speeds and still get sharp images in low light is a blessing
The images speak for themselves, but I'd say the combination of fast shutter speed and OIS dealt with my so-so camera handling technique admirably.
For slower shutter speeds and low light, will need a mono or tripod
That said, it's light enough that you absolutely can handhold and shoot even at relatively slow shutter speeds
that's a 10x slower shutter speed than the 1/focal length

The H-H025 LUMIX G 25mm interchangeable lens fits LUMIX G DSLM (Digital Single Lens Mirrorless) cameras based on the Micro Four Thirds system standard
Achieving F1.7 high-speed aperture, the LUMIX G 25mm / F1.7 ASPH
