So, I found the second cheapest boom mic stand available and got something of much greater quality than I expected (the cheapest was the Amazon Basics, but the videos showing the weak boom had me worried).

I'm going to be very honest, I wasn't expecting the stand to be nearly as stable or as sturdy as it turned out to be

But this one is pretty well-built and sturdy for the price.

The stucture , well built feels like it can last years if not more

I tried shortening the boom arm (thus bringing the mic closer to the stand's center and increasing the weight to the counter-side of the stand from the end of the boom), however the stand would still fall over unless the mic were directly above the base (thus defeating the purpose of having a boom in the first place).Probably fine for lighter mics, but for anything with some weight, suggest looking elsewhere.

I set it up anyway and honestly, it's to wobbly for my taste, sure you can toss a gear bag or sand bag on it, then you are defeating the purpose of a light weight compact mic stand if you are trin to get away hauling around Atlas style weighted Mic stands

The main stand is a decent height, could be higher.

It also has many adjustments for the perfect height and comfort

I wish the bottom legs were adjustable and could lock in place to my preferred height

They are lightweight and therefore you have to take a little extra precaution when using them, for example you have to position the arm in the right direction, directly over a leg, so it carries the weight properly and therefore won't fall over.

The center of gravity shifts away as a boom extends out towards it's base from the center.

Good value for the price

I would recommend this in most normal applications and the value is excellent.

Four legs would have made it a tiny bit more stable, but my microphone is admittedly heavy and it just makes this an unstable balance

The stand I received does its job amazingly well, and while I've got it practically on the ground, it's still VERY stable and doesn't wobble at all, even if I accidentally nudge it, which I really like, as that helps ensure the safety of my mic

Friends are surprised that I purchased this professional looking product with that affordable price

Purchased this for use with a Shure SM7B in a non-professional setting given the mostly favorable reviews and inexpensive price
