DYNAMIC RANGEThe dynamic range is better on the GoPro, including better shadow detail

The colors are more vivid/saturated, and show more detail and sharpness, except in low light situations, where the GoPro seems to have an advantage due to its greater dynamic range

the GoPro has better dynamic range, and its color accuracy is better on greens (grass, leaves, trees, etc.), the overall white balance and color accuracy was much better (IMHO) with the Sony.

There's been some comparisons between the GoPro HERO 4 and the Sony FDR-X1000V, and you can find them on YouTube, but for me, the colors were better.

I was able to download the Sony smart phone app for my iPhone 6+, connect to the camera in a couple of minutes, and control the camera from the phone

The hold button is a great feature, no more recording the sky by accident.

The watch is a nice feature to have, but I find it better to use my smartphone in conjunction with this cam.

This is a pretty good all round action camera ,the exagerated fish eye lens may not suit everyone, and the problem with the multicam remote function does seem to be a common fault, so if this is a feature you will need, look elsewhere, because sony will not acknowledge the problem exists!In response to sonys comment below

Played around right away, mostly indoors which normally produces awful quality using previous cams and webcams but not this time!So far, I LOVE it

Great camera and the quality is second to none in all formats (i.e. 1080p, 4k, etc).

The quality is outstanding, the design is sleek and portable, and the features are incredible

I can't figure out the reason that Sony would cripple this flagship action camera to deliver poor quality interval recording photos

Not only is the picture great, almost a fetching 4000p, but it has Wifi and a waterproof box for underwater taping

It works well if you want to use it to get sharp videos and reasonable pictures if you don't mind the fish eye effect
