I was a bit timid because it is Sony's first android auto capable head unit

This is a very nice Head unit with a very nice, responsive screen, Apple Car Play is great

I managed to make it work by partitioning the drive down to 2 GB and reducing byte allocation and read speeds through formatting tools, but consumers should not be forced to format their post 2006 flash drives with commercial format tools just to update their stereo to fix a problem from Sony's poor R&D.My final verdict is that, while Bluetooth is great, I bought this for Android Auto, and frankly, that feature just doesn't work

This receiver looks nice the screen is beautiful and the interface is far more attractive then any other offering especially the pioneer appradio for example

After a call to Crutchfield tech support, they had me perform a factory reset which did restore the sound but erased all my settings

As an Android Auto head unit, the Sony XAV-AX100 is not a good product

Great product, however, CarPlay doesn't automatically connect all the time.

My only suggestion is try to find a camera without the fake backup grid on it because it doesnt help at all and this unit ALSO overlays a much better grid on the backup camera...and with two grids it gets kinda messy looking

The built in amp is easy to remove and this radio is already limited on audio sources, so you want to have FM/AM

As of this writing the radio gives out a high pitched noise keeping the user from making any calls

Especially when this stupid radio is double DIN on the face and single in back

The stupid splash screen that requires you to confirm OK every time that the unit comes on

No more repeated stabbing at a mushy resistive screen; this is one of the other reasons I bought this unit

I kind of need the extension, as the USB connector is located on the back of the unit, and I can't very well remove the unit every time I want to plug my phone in

but FM I get no reception for any stations, just weak signal and static.
