as advertised - good price for the product - great home office/desktop computer
When I unboxed the replacement computer and it made just as much grinding noise, I decided that is just how the Acer Aspire desktop computers are
This desktop is a great value and works great for basic tasks and even some light gaming (World of Tanks).
I got the HP 21 inch monitor that was recommended because my desk is really small, and some nice $90 desktop speakers, and I should be good for quite some time.
I've had it for a couple months and it's a great desktop
I found assigning a 64GB thumb drive as Readyboost in a USB 3.0 port further improved performance.
Beyond being a little slow on boot, it has a consistent performance in day to day use
any standard ssd (the 7200rpm 2TB hdd isn't terrible and is pretty quick - with more than enough space for any user - but you'll always get faster performance from an ssd), and of course a larger and more efficient power supply
Acer is now the standard for economical, reliable PC performance.
Some tips to make this thing worth a lot more than you buy it for and improve its performance for gaming are to add in any dedicated gpu (be careful as some cards may require you upgrade the standard but relatively small 300W psu)
I wanted:8GB RAM (preferably 12);at least an i5 quad core, (or AMD Ryzen 5);2 TB HDD (7200 RPM);HDMI input;DVD RW;WIFI and Bluetooth;a card reader and a decent number of usb ports
Fortunately, this desktop has one PCI Express x16 slot (PCIe v3.0) and one PCI Express x1 slot (PCIe V2.0) so you can easily add a powerful graphics card for gaming or video editing
The same graphics card works in the old computer but not this one, which tells me that the PCIe port is bad
So if you want to install a decent graphics card, be aware that the desktop will have no other usable PCI slot
I wouldn't recommend that many games with out the better graphics card first lol
You have this beautiful machine and you are then let down with the video source.
I always liked Acer (have a chromebook of theirs that is fine), but after this I won't be buying Acer anymore unless they quit crippling their machines and offer support for other operating systems
Great machine, have had really good experience with Acer.
The machine has limited upgrade capacity but enough for productive home office work.
But for surfing, writing, taking notes, etc., this is a great machine
It is not a gaming computer, and might not be enough for heavy graphic intense work, but it is very good for everyday use, homework and many other tasks
So far it is working great, no noise and fast as it should be
Letters are crisp, the video works well and all in all this is solid.
If you have a kid in college you could be sneaky here and get them this a great working computer with not quite enough power to keep them up all night playing games

Ambiguous information about the 512GB limitation is buried in the Q&A above, which is why I called Acer in the first place
I've lost some information I didn't back-up
Ultimately, this appeared to be a strategy to get me off the phone because when we finally got to these and other system specification pages, information about the M.2's slot's limitations couldn't be found
